Actually, HV items can only be charged in an HV storage device, MV can be charged in HV or MV and LV can be charged in anything.

Use an auto tree farm to create wood which is pumped to coke ovens and get charcoal and creosote oil. Use charcoal for power and creosote oil for other random stuff. Or use electric furnaces to make your charcoal. Either way works.

Wouldn't it be simpler to use a chunk loader cart from railcraft and put it on rails. You could even just use a tunnel bore for your mining machine so everything stays together.

With most x-ray mods, you should be able to set which blocks you can see and can't see. Put on X-ray mod, set it so you can see FTB ores.

You cannot make armour until your base is made out of the armour's block, like no iron armour until your base is made of iron blocks. Only exception is leather armour. Good luck with the ender dragon or wither.

FTB Ultimate is locked and will not update at all until RedPower 2 updates. Last RedPower update on Eloraam's blog was dated December 26, 2012. Which is quite some time ago.
