For 1.7.10: A way to use dispensers to plant a farm (seeds/potatoes/etc)
I know Botania has that dispenser tweak enabled. Check around for a stand-alone version, I think there might be one already.

An addon for Botania that lets me upgrade the elven portal with three tiers: 1 lets you send passive mobs through the portal, getting different passive mobs back (and just dissapearing hostile mobs), the second one lets you get stuff/new mobs from hostile mobs, and the third and final upgrade lets you yourself finally go in and explore the elven realm itself.
Obviously increasing mana costs for the portals as you upgrade it, plus the materials for the new upgraded portals are rare/expensive/hard to get; but with each new upgrade, you also unlock new item trades too.

And/or extra realms/portals. Like a portal to the dwarven realm under the bedrock but above the nether, which at first works similar to the elven portal but with living stone instead of living wood. If both ideas are used, the dwarven portal could be upgraded too, ultimately resulting in you being able to explore it. And if there's 2 portals now, why not 4? Make a Cursed Daisy, which has all the same recipes as a pure daisy, but which result in cursed or evil versions of the things you would have purified, get bleeding wood and make a Drow Portal, or get Death Stone and get a Necropolis Portal, which also can be upgraded. The items you get from the new portals can be crafted etc in order to make new weapons/armors with slightly different benefits, and to summon new bosses.

So with these ideas, the Tier 1 upgrade only requires materials from the original portals, probably not all of them, like the elven upgrade requires materials traded from the dwarven portal, the dwarven upgrade needs materials from the necropolis portal, the necropolis upgrade needs drow portal materials, etc. Tier 2 upgrades require materials from Gaia spirits and Tier 1 portal passive mob products from the same portals, which means you need to make a third portal to make the second one tier 1. Tier 3 upgrades require tier 2 hostile mob drops and drops from some of the new bosses, which if they only need drops from the one other portal, now you need all four portals anyways (though to make only one portal Tier 3, one portal only needs to be the un-upgraded version, one is tier 1 upgraded, and the last one is teir 2).

Mod: auto screenshot

This mod allows a - player to use semi creative flight to position a camera in the world - which then persists there. Every (configurable) number of hours that the chunk containing the camera is loaded, it takes a screenshot from that point automatically.

That would be great for stop-motion progress screenshots on large builds; mostly for creative builders, but also for survival group-projects. I don't see myself using it, for now, but I like the idea.

Ohh, likey likey likey. 1.7.10 as well :)

EDIT: Numbered frames in the name, or even better if you can record to a single movie file. Support for 4 cameras ideally -- even if it's 4 different movies, being able to combine that in the editor into 4 views, 1/4 size, showing a build over time ... Mwa-ha-ha.

a better 3rd person view mod. My mom is interested in playing minecraft. her biggest issue right now seems to be the first person. I think it would help massively in playing the game if a better third person view was present.(might also help if I turned auto jump back on, That stuff makes me queasy. those one block high walls totally block her movement. She just can't understand they are in the way since she can see over them.)

Dust. That you have to clean up your house with a broom or vacuum cleaner after a while, or everything will get ugly.
As well Shower, bathtub, washing machine and so on, that when you are dirty, some flies will be around and you will get sick.. :p

Show her your kitchen counter, show her that she can see over it, and that she can't just walk over them without jumping or climbing up. Anything about a meter high. Unless she's not all that tall and I've been horribly insensitive, but I am hoping that odds are with me and she's average height...

For 1.10.2, no Open Blocks mod so a mod that adds in a glider that goes in your hot bar and at a button press can snap open and let you glide?

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
I like for being funny (was thinking of something very similar)- though I'm guessing she might be fairly new to (this style of) computer game in general?
It can take a while for something to click and get used to playing a 3D environment from 1st/3rd person perspectives.
I remember playing Burnout with my gran- she was swerving left/right all the time, trying to get that 'damn blue car' out the way. Switched her to 1st person mode and she had an easier time of it.

An add on for Botania that works like the bauble's case, but for lenses for your Mana Blaster.

Radial selection for your lens (like Thaumcraft's Wand Cap or Chisel & Bits' mode selector).

Shes trying the game again. Whe really just can't tell where her character is. She can't tell if she is currently looking down, up, sideways. I try to describe what is going on to her.

I remember now that I had to do something like this a little over a decade ago with just teaching her how to use a pc. That I will teach her something and she will forget it and need retaught it repeatedly. I think she might have finally got how to activate windows shortcuts and such back then. I think the first person view is making it extremely tougher to learn minecraft. She just can't relate where her character is in relation to her surroundings and anything related to that. Such as which direction she is currently looking.

I was teaching her to use netflix in the browser. She would even forget that she wanted the show to be fullscreen. Let alone how I taught her to make it full screen (finally discovered f11 works and have been teaching her that the last five,or so, times.) I hooked the firestick back up to the tv for her. she has a much easier time using its version of the netflix app and finding her way around in it.(i didn't know until i tried the windows store app that all the apps are designed slightly differently.) I was going to use my old pc that i loaned her to run servers on when i played minecraft(i usually just run them on the same pc as my client). she was upset at not having the pc so i set it back up at her desk and doubt i will be using it as a server pc now. She is playing minecraft now(i think to prove to me she will still use the pc) and not getting what she wants done done do the first person perspective issue.

She learned minecraft before. its been a few years since she played it though. I had to redraw up the crafting guides for tools as i had lost the old one i made for her. She isn't even trying to use it this time. She enjoys busting block much more and spends her time in game breaking dirt blocks and destroying stone ones, as she never makes a tool. She always wants to pick the dirt blocks up.

I think mainly right now she is trying to learn how to play the game. she is extremely unfamiliar with FPSs. and mostly unfamiliar with 3d games. She watches us play games. She hasn't really played a game since super mario world. (she tried super mario 64 on occasion. Even was able to wonder around a bit. She found the controls complicated though and didn't bother with the more complex stuff. she played wizard 101 and spent most her time running in small circles. i can't remember why she quit that one. She likes the looks of minecraft and wants to be able to play it with us. She just has a lot of trouble learning the skills needing and the FPS view is just making it tougher. she is starting to pick some stuff back up. hopefully it will work out. if we both have enough patience.

(last game she did really well on was atari pac-man. we enjoyed the hell out of playing single ghost mode and she would take the system for the entire day playing that) she also liked the taz mania devil game. none of us were good at that game though. not for sure its possible to be good at that game.

I know that one of the F5 modes gives you an 'over-the-shoulder' view (can't remember how many times you have to hit it). You could always show her how to set that view point. It might make it easier for her.

try it out. take a look at it. not certain it will work that well to play through the game using it. Which means she would have to learn to tap f5 multiple times to set views. She is only now starting to remember to tier up to get out of holes. Though she is still having problems with the aiming down part. She usually just end up blockaded herself into the hole. she can learn and remember. it will take weeks of constant repetition before she remembers the skills for any length of time. The more complex the set of things she needs to learn the more likely she is to give up in frustration and quit.

I'd like to see the inclusion of more status effects inspired by various RPGs like Final Fantasy and the like. Particularly to address how easy things can get in the game once you make powerful mod items. I'd also like to potions to be given an overhaul so that milk isn't so powerful, it can cure every status in the game. I still think milk should serve as a base for making curative potions like antidote or remedy. I think that there should also be higher tiers of positive/negative status effects and buffs/curatives much like how enchantments work. For example, there could be stronger tiers of the poison debuff like I, II, III, IV, and V, while players could make an antidote of an equal or higher tier to counter it. Here's a list of new buffs/debuffs I'd like to see along with respective curatives:

Stop:
An evolution of the slowness debuff already in Minecraft. The player cannot move, but can still turn in place, attack, and use items. How long the target is suspended in time depends on how powerful the debuff is.

Golden Needle: A consumable that could either reduce or cure stop or petrification status depending on how powerful it is.

Confusion:
One of my favorites. The player's controls are reversed and the screen is warped much like the nausea status. If possible, I would like on occasion for the another player's skin to be swapped with a random mob's and nameplate to be hidden at random times for the duration of the debuff. Also, any friendly non-player mob like a dog or a cat affected by confusion will attack any target (including players and other friendly mobs) indiscriminately.

Smelling Salts: Will reduce or cure confusion depending on how powerful the potion is.

Toad:
The player character is transformed into a toad. While in toad form, the player's health is greatly reduced, he can't attack or use most items, and can only hop around.

Maiden's Kiss: A potion that can reduce or cure toad depending on how powerful it is.

Petrified/Stone:
Any player character or mob affected is turned to stone. While any petrified players/mobs won't take any damage or status effects, they also can't move or use items other than Golden Needle. Since it wouldn't be fun otherwise, there's only one level of stone status.

Frozen:
The player/mob's movements are slowed and will take frostbite damage overtime. Players/mobs that are on low health could be frozen and shattered outright. I think that any hot food or potion should be able to cure/prevent frozen status for a certain period of time.

Remedy: A potion that could reduce or cure poison, stone, confusion, and toad depending on how powerful it is.

Muscle Stimulant: Increases the recharge rate of your weapons by a certain percentage depending on how powerful it is.

I like it with one caveat: that confusion not produce an effect similar to nausea. Nausea in MC gives me massive headaches if it lasts more than a couple of seconds.
