A melee turtle plus a brain in a jar to collect the XP is hard to improve, IMO. The challenge is in funneling the mobs to the turtle. It can be as easy as water streams or as complicated as a system of synchronized pistons. Might be fun to incorporate an Aerial Faith Plate or Arcane Levitator...

I'd use Redstone Energy Conduits instead of pipe. You'd have to attach the gate to a different kind of pipe (structural pipe for instance) and run the red alloy to transmit the signal. Something to consider if you want constant availability of MJs but also want to supply power only as needed...

Can they fit in one-block high spaces? That could make for a cool effect as they come out of holes to gather whatever, then disappear back in.

First of all, a request. I'd love to see people's automation inventions involving Thaumcraft. Has anyone tried to assembly-line the alchemical processes, for example? I could envision a setup where you set up RP filters to pull specific ingredients from chests, perhaps feeding into a buffer...

Eggs are incredibly useful in Thaumcraft research as well. Seems like Permutatio is in 80 percent of research topics, and eggs have a ton of it.

If I were setting this up from scratch today I'd use a clay golem and tell him to keep 64 wood in the appropriate side of the distributor, and give him a place to get it from. Keep in mind I've never actually done this with Steve's Carts blocks, but I think it should work.

I was using coal for the ignis and potentia (2 each in one piece of coal), plus 6 torches for the lux (1 each). 2 coal (plus 2 sticks) = 8 torches, plus the extra 6.

Thaumcraft is freaking brilliant, and beautifully done. Can't wait to see what's in store.

Yeah, one nitor costs roughly 14 torches, but it's worth it. :)

Did you try an item filter upgrade in your router? That probably would have helped.
