Using these stand alone on a wooden transport pipe, is there any way to have them pull out a full stack of items in one go instead of single items? I'm trying to get into using them instead of having electric engines everywhere pumping stuff out of chests and IC2 machines, but I'm not seeing any particular advantage to them at the moment. Yes I can set them to pulse only when something is in the inventory, but that is no good for my IC2 electric oven with 8 overclockers in which fills up the output slot in about 10 seconds. I need an autarchic gate equivalent of the electric engine that will pull out whatever stack is there in one go, not one item every 3 seconds.

Any ideas guys?

Btw, beta pack here so no redpower.

Also, contrary to what some have posted in another thread, the gates don't get faster at all. I've been sat here watching one pump items out of 1 chest into another in creative and 20 mins later it's still pumping them at the same speed it was to begin with.

Best thing I can suggest is not to use the beta pack. Redpower is too good to stick with the beta pack no matter how far you've gotten in your world... I'm sure theres a way to put your beta world onto the DW pack too...
Filters are afaik the only way to do what you want.

Yeah, I wonder if that's a bug...on the wiki it says Autarchic gates are supposed to be faster than a redstone engine (I think?) but in my experience they are WAY slower and do not speed up.

I'm more a fan of putting the autarchic gate on the pipe, then attach engines. The gate keeps the engines powered without me having to throw redstone torches or levers on everything.

I believe Autarchic gates have a warmup, like all other engines, so if you have logic that's turning them on and off that may be why they seem slower (eg. If you've configured a conditional like "Has Work" -> "Energy Pulser").

I've never seen anything but incredibly slow performance out of the gates either. Don't understand what people are doing who claim to be getting high speeds from them.

In any case, they're never going to pull out whole stacks. Your best bet is to have them issue a redstone signal to a more powerful engine attached to the gate. Probably electrical considering it's in close proximity to IC2 machines.

Oh, and BTW, lose the overclocked electric furnace and stick an induction furnace in there instead. :)

I don't think that's correct from my experience with them. As I said, I had a chest full of dirt and the gate was set to pulse if items in inv. I monitored it for the full time it took to take all 27 stacks out (approx half an hour) and it stayed at the same (slow) pace throughout, basically 1 item per piece of pipe, no closer than that. I think that 30 mins is more than adequate time for it to "warm up".

Sure, I could do that, but the single unit satisfies my requirement on its own. :)

Yeah, that's really the only option left from what I can see. I was hoping to lose the engines completely and just use the gates but it doesn't seem possible to do when you have high item outputs to deal with.

Ah, yea the warmup only took the first minute or so probably, but it will never draw more than 1 item out at a time. If you want more than that, you'll have to use Redpower mechanics, maybe the TE stuff like Routers (they can rip items out of chests with incredible speeds), or use a bigger engine. Electric and Coal engines can draw entire stacks, once they warm up.

Also, if you just need a slight boost, 2 redstone engines will draw 2 items at a time.. 3 will draw 3, etc. But they al have to be directly on the pipe, so 4 is the max.

Err, Autarchic gates to keep a redstone signal for the redstone/other engines?
Talk about a waste of resources, when you could use a standard gate for it.
redstone/iron/gold/diamond, depending on the condition(s) needed
