First of all, a request. I'd love to see people's automation inventions involving Thaumcraft. Has anyone tried to assembly-line the alchemical processes, for example? I could envision a setup where you set up RP filters to pull specific ingredients from chests, perhaps feeding into a buffer chest with a Buildcraft pipe that dumps stuff into the cauldron. Or better yet, retrievers ...

Damn, I may just build that tonight.

The problem with such an automated setup is the excess aspects you inevitably generate. Which leads me to my second thought: Thaumcraft needs either higher-capacity warded jars, or a way to tell tallow golems to stick the phials into chests.

Which leads me to a question: How do you tell the tallow golems where to get phials? It says they'll do that, but I'm not sure how.

DW20's latest single player Let's Play actually tackles your question. Basically you put your coloured marker at the jar AND also one at the chest where it can get phials.

I'm looking forward to getting started in TC3. Just got to get my sorting and energy system sorted out first.

Yeah I use Golems for farming. So far they are the best at automatic farming anything thats not a tree.

And it is cute to have them straw/wood/stone/clay army running all over your fields.

I played around with using golems to automate carbon/hydrogen/methane production and distribute empty cells back into the system.

Yeah that can be tricky as you have to click on just the right side of a device. In my first FTB world I was using them to run a fermenter. Ended up having to have it on block off the ground so I could get a little guy under it for the compost.

Can they fit in one-block high spaces? That could make for a cool effect as they come out of holes to gather whatever, then disappear back in.

Why yes they can. But it is hard to make that happen.

And when I say they don't despawn that is only semi true. It seems the they can despawn if you travel away from them. But only if your travel. I had a wisp in a jar (Glass box) that I had for about a real time week that just one day despawn while I was out caving. He never despawned when I logged out (even with a chunckloader on) or when on trips to he neither. I think maybe my brain in a jar murdered him.
