The Nether is supposed to be a void world, so everything is working as intended. To get Nether Quartz, you need to sieve Soul sand, and to get Soul sand, you need to put sand in a barrel filled with Witchwater. Mycelium transforms nearby water filled barrels slowly into Witchwater

Do it again, and give us the log of the attempt where it's done. Remember to only click "force update" once.

Go to options tab on launcher, click "Force update" (just once) and then try launching again

Here's a suggestion: Don't ask if we need something.

Need a log. Also do NOT allocated more than 4-5GB RAM max to Minecraft, it'll do more hurt than help

You could have also fixed this issue by deleting "Elec332" folder from your world directory :D

Data corruption. Take a backup of your world. After that, delete "EnderStorage" folder in your world folder and it should be fixed.

You're connecting with wrong mods installed on client or server. Make sure to use the same pack.

Remove the mods you added and it should work.

It pretty much always states this at the bottom of the log, and I've never seen it be the reason for issues.

Going from 1.8 to 1.9 is relatively simple as you said, so if the modder has his/her mod/s updated to 1.8, it ain't a problem. However, going from 1.7 to 1.8 or 1.9 is a whole different ordeal

By paid account you mean a Minecraft account yes? If it's not working, it means you're not using correct user/pass Make sure not to typo
