The fact that when famous minecraft youtubers start doing a modded minecraft series, they usually don't do ANY research in ANY mod whitin the modpack whatsoever.

I recently seen a video where the recorder encounter a non-vanilla block, and wondered what it was and what mod it was from.... With his WAILA enabled

Its a friggin SKYblock - you're not going anywhere unless you flop it out over the void...​

Your map can get quite big. Also, mob radar. And you can use it in the nether.

You do the same in other modpacks. Hell, in other mod packs you use waypoints to tell you where your home is so you can never get lost. Finding biomes is comparatively minor.

Without F3 anyone trying to set up automated apiaries, a chunkloaded ME network or a remote quarry with trash disposal would basically be heading down the short path to headdesk city.

Yes, but being aware of chunk boundaries enables one to position their setups so as to not cross chunk boundaries and fall foul of annoying bugs

yeah- the laser chunk grid (NEI's F9 option) is pretty neat for that.

There's probably several other mods that allow that through in-game mechanics, but I can't name them off the top my head.

The whole chunk-grid related bugs/stuff is generally 'out of game' context, so dropping an out of game solution isn't overly cheating as such.
An in-game item to show up the grid would be pretty cool (either helmet/goggles, or holding something akin to Thaumcraft's scanner

And so much else. You can pick up lava in an iron bucket without the bucket melting. You can go near lava and not be cooked from the shear heat radiating off it and touching it does not necessarily mean instant death.
