When TE first started, you are correct, the "Expansion" in the name was a pun. It was meant to save BuildCraft. Circa 1.2.5, BC was on the way out. I rather liked BuildCraft and didn't want to see it die. Hence, I wrote an expansion for it. And for a long time, I did assume that BC/RC/Forestry would be installed alongside TE as part of the BC ecosystem.

Now, that isn't the case. TE stands alone.
since TE3 is no longer a part of BC ecosystem shouldn't it have a new name without "expansion" in it?

I'd love to see a way to convert Red Flux to MJ and EU and back again. As well as having an energy conduit that can transfer MJ and EU. That'd be pretty sick. But everything looks amazing right now for TE!

I'm not... for me TE was love at first sight (of the machine config UIs).

to be honest, when I saw it when it started I actually thought "meh, just some machines IC2 already has, and what's even the point in automatic cobble generation" but ooh boy what was I wrong when I got to play with it. as soon as I started with it, I loved it, and that love is growing only stronger.

I cannot say too much but there will be a way to convert RF->MJ directly. The reverse still hasn't been decided as far as I know though it may happen.

This morning I will show off the new unified tesseract:

And they have some new configuration options too:

So you can now send power, item and fluid via a single tesseract at the same time. The caveat of this is that the tesseract got more expensive to build - totally worth it in my opinion.

it's defintely awesome to see them all combind into 1 block. do they require anything else to work? like energy for example?

By TE2 you mean Thermal Expansion? In what universe was it unbalanced? o_O

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised at a good mod becoming popular..
Yes.
Te was vastly unbalanced COMPARED to other things.
It was alot better than IC2 and other alternatives, power wise, intelligence wise and loads of other reasons.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, because I saw no inbalance at all.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
I think its the ore doubling + bonus item which people are referring to "OP/unbalanced"
(personally I'm indifferent to it- the rich slag is a fairly need mechanic, and I like the general trend of improving technology gives more efficient processing)

Even then its not a vast difference.

The auto-eject/custom siding could also be called 'unbalanced' compared to all the previous item motion/automation
(previously requiring an external mechanic to extract, and infrastructure/upgrades to link machines)

Again, neat mechanic- not an overly vast difference.
Tesseracts?
Possibly an unbalance?- but by far one of the expensive/high machine cost methods of teleportation. (aside from IC2)
(It would suit my personal tastes for tesseracts to require energy to run- its not the amount of power needed; I'm talking a token amount- it'll mean more involved in-designs and intuitive setting up of infrastructure. Minecraft is a building game- give us more to build XD)
Well designed? Certainly
User friendly? Very
Balanced? Machine cost feels in line with other mods. There's also a steel machine frame option.

I'd probably call it a placebo unbalance.
It doesn't really unbalance the game, it just feels like it.
