Well if mDiyo makes it so mobs can be spawned with random tinkers weapons then quantum protection won't mean much either.

Well, it shouldn't. Quantum armor isn't nearly as good.
Actually quantum armour does have 1 big advantage over MPS: it can effectively supply energy for IC2 tools (specifically the vajra, which is a multitool unto itself). While MPS armour can also supply energy to IC2 tools, it only does so from energy in the chest piece, limiting storage capacity to 5m. Also consider that since the MPS:eu ratio is very high. This, combined with the extortionate eu costs of the vajra, will drain the suits battery before you can say 'iridium'.

There's also another advantage: quantum armour is (for the forseeable future) book enchantable. Go quantum!

True, but this applies to all armour.

Why would you want to though, when the MPS power tool combines all the IC2 tools? The vajra isn't worth its eu cost even with a gravichestplate. And normal quantum armour doesn't act as a batpack.

Also, the MPS:eu ratio is adjustable in the config.

We had the GT recipes for MPS enabled on AdvancingCraft.
Needless to say, we were pretty quick to change that for Resonant Rise.

They're actually... and I say this with love for the mod and a healthy respect for MachineMuse... the gregtech recipes are wrong. They're based on assumption that flight is late game and flight is not late game. They're based on an assumption that energy-based armor is late game. It is not late game. In any modpack or modworld I know of that includes gregtech, anyways. People routinely have jetpacks before they have ore processing. People routinely have nano-suits very early.

The TE recipes are much more balanced and reasonable. Even the IC2 recipes are just about right.

I also find vajras WAY too uncontrollable, can't pinpoint and break one block without destroying others nearby!

Even without flight... try to make armor with Nano-level protection without losing movement speed... And look how fast it will eat the battery...

To be honest, I'll concede the vajra isn't the best tool for general mining. Its best uses IMO are for damage (better than any other melee weapon AFAIK), and clearing big areas that aren't quite big enough to be worth using a filler.

I do like MPS, but it just feels a bit too good. Is there any reason to use anything else once you have it? Although I have heard about a certain heat mechanic that's been introduced... how does that work?

EDIT: Bloody ninjas! They get everywhere! Little pests!

Almost everyone on AdvancingCraft did this:
  1. Make a jetpack. Eventually upgrade to GraviSuite's advanced nanochest.
  2. Make the MPS boots and legs. These worked great and were not overly expensive. Max advanced armor plating on both.
  3. Make a MPS helmet and put the biggest battery you could afford to make there. This kept IC2 tools from draining your relatively small helmet battery (the nanochest would be tapped first).
No one ever completed the set because it was hugely more expensive for maybe 4 points of armor and slightly faster flight.

How does the quantum armor supply EU to the tools ? Is there a config or something because I would really like it.
EDIT: The gravichestplate is what supplies EU not the quantum armor. I guess you guys consider that as part of the whole quantum set.

Yeah, I don't consider the Gravisuit to be part of the Quantum set. The Quantum Chest piece is the chest armor of the quantum armor set. The Gravisuit is something else entirely.

Would that make you invincible? Fully upgraded, each piece of MPS armour gives 24% protection, for 96% total. I don't know what a nano chestplate gives, but it should be at least 28% (required for 100% protection).

This is a great armour combo by the way: the nanochestplate's jetpack gets a boost from the MPS speed boost, whereas you don't with a gravichestplate. However, I prefer to use energy shielding, since then I have the weight allowance for 2 beefy batteries and a kinetic generator.

There's one disadvantage however: you can't make the MPS armour black without making it a silhoutte, which doesn't match the nano chestplate.

MM Boots have let me die from falling, and some lag causing me to hit the ground too fast and dying would annoy me greatly, so I'll stick with long fall boots. And no way I'm gonna fight with helmet power when I just wear goggles of revealing anyways. Plus I absolutely despise the mm power gauntlet.

I never did make legs on advancing though. They're too good now, even with heat issues. Like way OP good. Start sprinting then take flight with adv nano chest and I can go 2-3k blocks in a matter of seconds before overheating. I've outrun chunk loading on already generated chunks. And even if I stay up in the air too long and catch fire, I can remove the legs (since its the only mm piece I have) and the fire stops. So does the speed, but it gives me the opportunity to find some water to stand in. And during all this, the legs self-generate power in excess of its use.

That's pretty snazzy. What kind of protection do you get out of that?

....OP: Here's one-

ForumPeople: Ninepence.

IC2: (feebly) I'm not dead!
ForumPeople: (surprised) What?
OP: Nothing! Here's your ninepence....
IC2: I'm not dead!
ForumPeople: 'Ere! 'E says 'e's not dead!
OP: Yes he is.
IC2: I'm not!
ForumPeople: 'E isn't?
OP: Well... he will be soon-- he's very ill...
IC2: I'm getting better!
OP: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
ForumPeople: I can't take 'im like that! It's against regulations!
IC2: I don't want to go on the cart....
OP: Oh, don't be such a baby.
ForumPeople: I can't take 'im....
IC2: I feel fine!
OP: Well, do us a favor...
ForumPeople: I can't!
OP: Can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long...
ForumPeople: No, gotta get to Redpowers, they lost nine today.
OP: Well, when's your next round?
ForumPeople: Thursday.
IC2: I think I'll go for a walk....
OP: You're not fooling anyone, you know-- (to the ForumPeople) Look, isn't there something you can do...?
(they both look around)

IC2: I feel happy! I feel happy!

(the ForumPeople deal the IC2 a swift blow to the head with his wooden
spoon. The IC2 goes limp.)

OP: (throwing the IC2 onto the cart) Ah. thanks very much.
ForumPeople: Not at all. See you on Thursday!
OP: Right! All right....

ROBIN:
To sing
And dance
And keep an eye on Lance

ALL:
We're going off to war
We'll have girlfriends by the score

DAD:
We'll be shot by Michael Moore

ALL:
Because we're not yet dead

The only reason I still keep ic2 is because my ssp world which I played for ages have random holes where the copper and tin used to be. And... UU-matter. I love the stuff. I'm basically swimming in it (deep storage unit with 105k UU-matter)

I have heard about a certain heat mechanic that's been introduced... how does that work?
When the little lava bar grows up into a big lava bar (through overusing your weapons), you burn like you're swimming in lava. So no more rocketjumping with the railgun. The railgun is probably the most overheating weapon. Good thing there's heat sinks, but it's extremely heavy and not even maxed out sprint assist can't help you
