IC2 is slowly dying out ?

Personally I feel that MJ power based mods are being developed (or becoming a lot more popular) a lot more then EU based, hence why it feels like IC2 is "dying".

I used IC2 in Tekkit, didn't see the point in MJ in those days, but MJ has advanced since those days, and I'm using it now as I've not before. I do prefer MJ (with TE conduits) now over IC2, and I'm using RedPower Solar panels to produce a bit of MJ power.

Without IC2, I would miss recyclers, I just love playing the scrapbox lottery.

It's hardly a lottery when the investment is zero. It all boils down to statistics. Since the drops are chance based you'll end up with x-percent of the drops being diamonds / emeralds etc.

I had that setup in my old base and it felt rather cheaty.

The investment, as with everything in Minecraft, is time. I know what you mean though, when I had a primitive setup running on batboxes that generated a couple of scrapboxes per hour, I played the scrapbox lottery as well and I enjoyed it. Now that I have a rack of MFSUs and a barrel with hundreds of stacks of scrapboxes in it, the thrill is gone.

All systems in Minecraft pay for themselves over time, so investment for everything is zero. I had to build a specialised system just for my recyclers (EU generated by hennequin leaves, seeds turned to oil, Flax Seeds, Carrots and Potatoes being recycled), as I'm only using MJ. It's being fed with materials from my small golem managed farm. I'm not using extruders/cobble gen. I prefer to play my game without cobble gen systems.

So far my small system hasn't paid me much, just 2 copper dust, a stick, a hoe, a sign, a feather and 2 dirt.

One of the first things I got from scrapboxes was a cake. I couldn't quite work up an appetite for it, though, considering it was made entirely out of recycled rotten flesh. It's currently buried under my Thaumcraft lab for the research boost. It's not the value of the resources that made the scrapbox lottery fun for me. It's little stories like this that bring my world to life.

Tastey! Bit softer on the teeth then a cake made from cobble.

I know what you mean, I dumped some stuff manually into the recyclers just to check that my system was working correctly, eagerly watch it munch through, slowly producing scrap, until finally a box was made, I eagerly awaited the result, and got a wooden hoe. Luckily I was passing by on my way to my tool shed to pick up a hoe to expand a farm, so was actually a useful result.

Well, I class I lose the scrapbox lottery if I get a bit of dirt, stick, or a wooden tool. That's like winning 10p by buying a £1 ticket.
Besides, it's just a bit of fun, easily abused though with cobble gens and sufficient EU generation.

Its odd. I considered running the latest Tekkit, as for whatever reason I couldn't get Galacticraft to run in my 1.5 pack, until I saw that it only contained Buildcraft/TE Energy. Now this isn't because I dislike those mods, in fact they seem to be the tools I use the most, but I hate the idea of everyone doing the same thing. Back in the days of Tekkit, nearly everyone went the same route, making server play less interesting due to a general lack of originality. But I love how FTB offers so many routes. If I wanted I could limit myself to one mod, or use a bunch of them in combination, which to me is brilliant seeing as mixing mods in Tekkit was essentially just for Blaze machines for infinite resources. I don't want to see IC2 go, and maybe it is just bloating the modpack, but one of the things I love about packs, and I may be the only one, is that there are so many different kinds of power, and so many different required machines.

I'd agree with the opinion that the vanilla MPS recipes are far too cheap for what they get you. Personally I think the IC2 level recipes are about right. Expensive enough to be a challenge, but not a tedious grind.

...holy crap, I just looked at the GT recipes, and they're obscene! So expensive...

Some of you guys are crazy. IC2 despite of not getting any update is the biggest, one of the best mods in the modpack. Without IC2, you wouldn't be able to fly,
Modular Powersuits
be nearly invincible,
Modular Powersuits
no diamond drills,
Still Modular Powersuits
chainsaws,
Guess what? Modular Powersuits
Meh
MINING LASERS,
Thaumcraft
and a BUNCH of other stuff.
What?

We had the GT recipes for MPS enabled on AdvancingCraft.
Needless to say, we were pretty quick to change that for Resonant Rise.

I must not be looking at the right recipes. All I see are recipes that require a little bit of aluminum, some steel, and occasionally a computer monitor. These must be the easy mode recipes, right?

You obviously haven't seen the recipe for force field emitters and ion thrusters. Force field emitters require vacuum-hardened tungstensteel plates, and superconductors. Ion thrusters require, among other things, iridium neutron reflectors. They're incredibly painful.

Now that's more like it.

That's definitely something i could see myself using.

Question: Can the MPS be charged with EU, or only MJ?

EU, MJ, UE power... anything you can think of except blulectricity and Charge.
