It hasn't been removed yet. The trigger is what's there.

Think of it as a security measure. GT already ensures it's being loaded last of all the mods and then does their tweak. Mod author of mod XYZ would have to make specific code to say "Wait until GT has loaded THEN nerf his recipes". The trigger handles these situations.

I don't really like the exceptions though... I'm not totally against them either.

yet another quotes from the man him self kind of say is all, "And what in particular thing in TConstruct needs that "hell of a lot of Wood"? Most of its early Game "Workbenches" are not really expensive Woodwise even with my nerf. Also, if you really need Wood, then make a Saw and you get the previous Amount of 4 Planks per Log"

So do it my way or insert random insult YOU ALL, or am I reading more into it than is there ?

The bolded invalidates any qualms he has with other mods changing recipes.

It wasn't overriding a GT recipe in the first place. It was adding a new recipe for 1 wood -> 4 planks. The existing 1 wood -> 2 planks, 1 wood + saw -> 4 planks recipes from GT remained wholly in place while the original 1 wood -> 4 planks was deleted by GT.

Not that Greg has any compunctions about removing or changing recipes from other mods, so trying to claim that as a moral high ground is laughable at best.

Besides which, if I want to run a mod that gives the matter fabricator the exact recipe of the mass fabricator, that's my damn choice and not something GT should be complaining about at all much less crashing the client over.

Atleast the code is like this (unless i totally missed something)

"
Wait until other mods have loaded

INIT:
Register GT recipes. Add them to a list.
POST INIT:
Go through the current item recipes GT registered and compare them to the one we had previously. If there's a change, throw exception
"

A security measure against mods doing to Gregtech what Gregtech is doing to Buildcraft, Forestry and IC2. Do you see deliberate client crashes from them? I don't bloody think so!

Again: There can be no justification for deliberately crashing the client just because you disagree with what another modder is doing.

you do realise that it crashes on LOAD and not during GAMEPLAY?

It's pretty much saying.. Here's the problem: blahblah. Solution: Remove one of these mods because they are not compatible! ( GT or the other offender)

( Well no, it doesnt rly say that because Greg seems to be too immature to add that line. It says something about not coming whining to him ;) )

I still can't get my head around the idea that it is OK to PLAN to crash someones game for any reason.

That's because you're a rational human being with a functioning brain.[DOUBLEPOST=1374097403][/DOUBLEPOST]

you do realise it doesn't matter. It is still a deliberate client crash and needs to be reprimanded until removed. Or Gregtech is removed. Those are the options.

This has nothing to do with me, or my personal opinion nor do I condone or accept the decisions made by either party (so please dont yet at me) but when I read this the fiasco that Sengir and Tekkit had a year or two ago and Sengir caused the launcher to crash came to mind. Again, I got nothing to do with this, just adding to the conversation.

Except: It's not a problem except in Greg's mind

Again, why should it crash because I as a user have chosen to add a mod that changes the matter fabricator recipe?

And if it can't load, you can't get to the gameplay.

Then you also need to remove minecraft from minecraft because it can throw exceptions too.. DELIBERATELY! :)

but yeah, my point isnt here to defend what he did. My point was just to clarify what he's doing and to say that drama like that seems to come and go.. and hopefully this will go away too.

except he didn't. He caused a certain branch of bee to explode with the power of a creeper blast when you got too close.

Choice between exploding bees and client crash... hmmm hard one!

I'm not saying it should. I'm just saying that's what he decided to do

This shouldn't "go away". The FTB team needs to deal with the situation at hand.
