This is why I think a complex RF mod is *NEEDED*. Because people need to understand that an API is just the foundation, that it has incredible flexibility. People need a wakeup call. I don't think the uproar is going to be as bad as predicted.

I don't think there needs to be a way to prevent someone from hooking up simpler systems. That's imposing your idea of what 'should be' on someone else. Big mistake. That's the cardinal sin that GregoriousT has committed. Let it be on an honor system.
agreed. i dislike TE, but that does not mean i dislike RF.

What is the point of this statement? I'm not even being snarky I honestly don't see the relevance.
In the planning stage we won't deal with much general hate, and we're not even sure if it will all happen yet

In released stage we will get more hate, and their is practically no going back

Sir, if I could I would have liked your comment 1000x's over!

Look folks, this can all boil down to one simple lesson.

If you don't like it, don't use it.

@Reika 's mod shows that hard mode mods are appreciated, and well used. No one is forcing people to use RoC, but many do. Good on them.
Devs, no matter what they do, will have to put up with idiots, hell, we have an entire thread dedicated to those idiots (stupid things people say about modded MC anyone?)

Maybe it's the Canadian in me that just wants people to enjoy the mods they enjoy, the more interaction and ability to set up your base the way you want the better IMO
Want to run your macerator on EU or RF? Cool, why not... This allows the folks who want a challenge to be able to do so, while those who want to just get it done and get on to something else can.

Well, yes obviously. How does this refute my last post? Why would you even being the planning process if you anticipated hate and didn't think you could handle it?

Closing off your mod to being powered from another mod is perfectly fine, as long as you change nothing in the other mods. Greg, on the other hand, has a nasty tendency to try and modify the behavior and/or recipes of other mods to fit his own designs, which is very different.

Yes, because i would still be able to go back on it. I have a weird mental way of thinking :P

XD this is basically the long version of my "to each their own"[DOUBLEPOST=1409545588][/DOUBLEPOST]
do we (the PT) take over threads now?
we are the PT. you will be assimilated. resistance is futile.

It is all about the fact of scale of the idiots :p. Anyway, I wish it could be this way, but sadly it is not possible in all cases

Your posts are amazing.
BTW this is true I highly respect your posts @Cptqrk

I can sit here for days and say I'm planning a mod that will take an MJ style approach to RF and take it a step further. I can even code everything in the mod. And then never publicly release it. So taking Striking's mod planning and saying it proves your point is incorrect, because that doesn't mean it will be released, or even have code created for that matter.

I don't consider it a sin...he stood his ground, and I respect that. Even if I don't like it
My father once said a thing that was rather profound: Your right to swing your arm stops BEFORE it hits someone's face.

Gregorious had a vision. That's great. But his right to implement that vision stops when it starts affecting other mods. That's where he crossed a line, in my personal opinion.[DOUBLEPOST=1409545637][/DOUBLEPOST]
User numbers matter. Creative vision and desire to remain true to one's principles matter more.
I stand corrected.

Yup, I know it's human nature to resist change (hell, look at my posts in the AE2 thead) but we can adapt.
I don't understand the.... I don't want to say hate, but it's something like it, towards either RF, RoC, GT, etc when there are soo many other options.
This is why I play modded MC... Don't want to do something that way? Cool, do it this way instead...
