Get dirt and use a pasture seed on a patch of it
I'm still early in the pack, but I'm fairly sure that grass won't spread to cracked sand. You need to do one or more layers of dirt to get them grassy.

Wand foci of equal trade for easy "spread"Another thing, I have seen several pictures of people's bases on regrowth with grass everywhere. Is there questline or mod that spreads it for you, or do I have to manually cover all the cracked dirt with sand myself?
This is intended behavior by Vazkii, the dev of Botania. It's also stated in the lexica and NEI as a number on the rune you are looking to create.@thephoenixlodge i don't know if you noticed this, but for the primary runes, all give you 3....
But the rune of mana only gives 1.
I manually replace cracked sand with dirt in the various downtimes. I also like the idea that 'normal terrain' is spreading out from my base.Another thing, I have seen several pictures of people's bases on regrowth with grass everywhere. Will this new mod generate terrain to smoothly transition pre-existing chunks or will we be likely to get jagged terrain differences, if it doesn't require a full restart? This is an issue that pops up periodically that I have no idea what causes it. A workaround is to actually add Biomes O' Plenty manually and just make sure all its biomes are disabled.
On that note I have found another new mod which can perform the job ClimateControl does currently and as such will probably be switching over to it in the near future. This mod (BiomeTweaker) will also mean I can add a little variety to the terrain by adding a mountainous variation of the wasteland to generation too.
Not sure why you are trying to get fertilizer but if its for humus then you can make compost with dirt and wheat to make humus. The central control section is one of the specified sizes, but the actual crop planting area is a maximum, use as much or as little as you like. And you can to a degree mix and match different crops. I think 4 different per multifarm is the cap. My main issue with them is fertilizer in this pack. Apatite deposits in "normal" worlds are large and fairly common and fertilizer is pretty easy. Here not so much.
Thanks for this, I now know how to get slimes spawns without search the area for slime chunks. I have slime balls from a quest.yup slimy tools come with that trait
I believe you are supposed to melt essence berries, found underground, into molten exp in a crucible furnace, which is then bottled into Bottle o' EnchantingOk I got stuck. Ive been making my seeds and have got to exp seeds. To make the seeds you need bottle o enchanting. The mob essences need a strong infusion stone, to make the stone you need exp essence but I dont have the seeds to make the essence. What am I missing?

Thanks, it doesnt really seem to fit with the rest of the seeds. Its dependent on actually finding essence berries without an actual quest that sends you off in search of them. Then when you have the bushes its not obvious that you smelt the berries into the bottles. I have liquid exp feeding my anvil but didnt connect it to Bottle o' Enchanting.I believe you are supposed to melt essence berries, found underground, into molten exp in a crucible furnace, which is then bottled into Bottle o' Enchanting
That makes more sense since we have skeleton seeds from a previous quest.3x3 skeleton soul essences should do the trick for the bottle.

Any of the soul essences will work, I believe, but skeleton is the ones you should have on hand at this stage.
Just FYI, you can fish them up, but they are uncommon to rare, or you can go diving. There are lots in underwater chests which tend to spawn in kelp forests.
There is chest underwater? If that's true that would get me underwater fast.
Mmmmm.... Now I feel like I should go divingYep, and pretty easy to spot once you have scuba gear too. Since chests are slightly smaller than a block in size they create a blue water disturbance around themselves. Water hives and chests look a lot alike from a distance though.
I found my first with just a snorkel. They have things like paper, books, book & quill, bottle o'enchanting, wither skulls, and more. Nothing wildly exciting so far, but mostly useful stuff. They are not rare.
