    Mindcrack Pack Starting Off

True, but when one of those ores is diamond, little else matters, at least at first. It's definitely not cross-mod compatible, though.

    arboriculture [Forestry]

Strictly speaking, the Alveary is a multiblock structure, innit? ;) I can only imagine what it'll take to make this one though... maybe some of the new woods?

Anyone else have major lag in the Twilight Forest?

I do seem to recall comments that the Twilight Forest in general is very resource-intensive - all those trees, you know? Quite unfortunate, that. That said, some of the loot is absolutely indispensable...

    arboriculture [Forestry]

Actually, that reminds me: do Forestry Arboretums handle arboricultured trees properly? The old wiki mentions 'vanilla trees and rubber trees only' but now... I mean, obviously that sort of setup wouldn't let you ripen fruit, but if you want saplings for biomass instead....

    Mindcrack Pack Starting Off

The hilarious thing is, if I remember correctly, if you blow up a diamond block for the grinder, you should have just enough left for the angular saw or whatever it's called, Factorization's silk touch tool. Of course, this means you haven't got any left for a wrath igniter - I mean, wrath lamps...

    [MindCrack Pack] GregTech and Chrome

That said, the fact that you can get tungsten out of lava makes for a few renewable (if insanely high-tier) recipes, most notably the tungsten cutting blades.

    Endless Dirt?

I just thought of a hilarious way around this: The squeezer will occasionally burp up mulch if you pass in apples. You can draw out the mulch with liquid pipes pretty easily (and for bonus hilarity, use the apple juice to make biomass), then pass it into the carpenter, and so on. Although I...

Am I supposed to be getting dust when I grind my gem ores?

For the record, there actually is another way to double your diamonds: The Factorization grinder yields 2.2 diamonds per ore, if I remember correctly. Diamonds, not the dust. Still need a block of diamond to set it up, though.

    Extra Bees

Mmm, not sure, but... GT has a recipe to spin chrome out of redstone? Or was it glowstone? I forget. Anyway, you can use that to breed chrome, although at a pathetically slow rate. As an additionally hilarious note, I recall seeing an iridium comb in NEI once. Hmm...

    Detecting Full Barrels

Wait wait wait, I've got it: You can set up an overflow past the barrel using an RP2 restriction tube, feed it into a chest/buffer, and then wire that up. Of course, if you have diamond pipes just lying around, that might be simpler.

    Filler question

As a fun side note, apparently quarries were changed recently - now their upper limit is something like 100 MJ/t. Which is insane, really. Still need diamonds to make it, unlike the filler, but then you don't have to pull shenanigans involving piping and whatnot below. Of course, if you don't...

    Mindcrack Pack Starting Off

Actually, what I meant is to put gold ore in an Induction Furnace. That yields two gold bars and sometimes rich slag. Also, it's easy to forget this with all the mods, but getting Fortune III is still the best way to get diamonds. Granted, the mods have ways to transfer enchantments once you get...

    Ore generation between mods

If you're working with Mindcrack, I believe there's a rather odd setup where tin only generates in quantity above depth 40, so be aware of that. I think there's a forum post somewhere with more information, although I can't quite find it now... And in general, I believe ore generation is being...

How to update mod pack without breaking Thaumcraft aura nodes?

I believe what you're looking for is auras.dat in the world directory, although I haven't played around with backing up the aura nodes myself. No idea why they'd wipe, though - perhaps some interaction between the config file and the aura file?

    Mindcrack Pack Starting Off

Well, it depends. I basically goofed off with setting up Forestry for the bees, before setting up a Magma Crucible -> Industrial Centrifuge pipeline for copper and tin. Thaumcraft 3 is also a lot of fun, and even has a research aspect - as the minecraft forum post says, mine up a Crystal...

    Buildcraft MJ to IC EU?

If you feel like being clever, I seem to recall a couple alternate ways to get slimeballs: Allegedly a factorization crystallizer can get them, painfully slowly. Alternatively you could get some bees together to make pollen (warning: that's a rather long breeding process, although luckily...

How do I get the non RP gems? (mindcrack V6 - V7)

No, actually. The short version is that the Forge Ore Dictionary will save you - you can feed RP rubies into Industrial Grinders for Chrome, for instance, and RP rubies are far more common. So if anything, you're out ahead. If you're a purist, you could try Silk Touching the blocks and feeding...

Mindcrack - Industrial Centrifuge no longer processes Bauxite

Well, I was avoiding mentioning Mystcraft, because this is one of the many, many reasons why it is so OP. In any case, Mindcrack (GT hardmode) doesn't have Mystcraft, so there you go.

    Detecting Full Barrels

While it might not exactly be what you had in mind, allegedly Pneumatic Tubes do detect when barrels are full, a fact which many, many people have exploited ruthlessly. So if you have RP2 infrastructure set up, congratulations!

    [Engines] Which should I use?

If you're a little forgetful like me, you might also look into Biogas Engines from Forestry. A little tricky to get the Bronze for the infrastructure if you're messing with GregTech, but absolutely failsafe and 5 MJ/t on biomass. Mind, it'll burn lava if you're not careful, but that's what Magma...
