What I would like to see is someone making Thaumonomicon style ingame books for each mod. Have them craftable using an item from that mod + a book. That would be pretty sweet

That was a Thermal Expansion recipe.. I don't see any reason why that would be removed.

The pack makers, KirinDave and Velotican, are still experimenting with the oregen configs. They want to encourage building by increasing oregen, decrease the amount of time you're mining basically, but they have yet to strike the balance they want. Expect every release to refine it a bit more.
