I feel like you should try to science this out in creative. Its possible you've identified a bit of a bug with the alveary's ability to simulate a Nether environment.

Can you give more details on what you're trying to do? When you say "connect a tank to automatically go into a combustion engine", are you actually trying to say "how to pull fluids from a tank and put them into a combustion engine" ? (And if so,what kind of tank?)

Yeah I figured it might be GT:NH. Truth is, the recipe you're seeing is very specific to that modpack (Rather than to gregtech, which doesn't modify the bed recipe iirc) You might get an answer here, but you'll probably have more luck in their dedicated thread. That said, I can give it a shot...
