Your improvement ideas for FTB Mods!

Fool! 10 RF per operation!? A quarry takes 320 RF for one block of stone, 160 for dirt, 960 for an ore... and 16000 RF for one block of obsidian. That's, of course, just the breaking - the quarry arm's movement also takes some RF. And it already goes faster the more RF you give it, if you...

    [1.7.10][WIP][Unlisted] ConstructPack [Balanced Tech/Magic Pack]

A lot of the mods look very outdated.
  3. asiekierka

How do you like mods to be balanced?

It's a tradition. BuildCraft has had gears like that for four years now, changing it would be like removing the quarry. And we're not GregTech. We don't need machines to craft all the things. Most base stuff should be achievable with just a crafting table, also keep in mind that the quarry must...

    Automating Buildcraft with AE2

As I said: "No. But currently changing it would be a breaking change. We're still thinking on what to do."

@Peeve: No. But currently changing it would be a breaking change. We're still thinking on what to do.

Changing Machine Mod bye bye IC2?

Guess why it's a config option? Generally, I added it because some people prefer this style of play, but the promoting of compact builds (which impact FPS and are often not very Minecrafty) is exactly why it won't be on by default. (Even for those who have it on, diamond power pipes are...

Changing Machine Mod bye bye IC2?

Far too much work. The reason I moved to RF is (a) keep compatibility with all BC addons of old and (b) shift the balancing from the modders to the modpack makers, giving them more freedom by providing an alternate RF backbone (with optional energy loss etc.) It is unfortunate that many modpack...

Changing Machine Mod bye bye IC2?

Hey, nobody seems to notice that BuildCraft 7 adds a config option for energy loss in Kinesis Pipes. And I think one pack - InfiTech 2? - actually uses it! (Based on what we had in BuildCraft for Minecraft 1.2.5-1.4.7, it should also be familiar to IC2 players) (This config option has been...

I wanted a 2D esolang as that fits MC better.

I might still do it as an addon. For the lulz.

I was considering adding a Befunge implementation to Minecraft for "BuildCraft Smartgates/FPGAs".

Malbolge is still better than modding Minecraft.

It only gives you the lambdas, none of the classes.

    FTB Horizons: Daybreaker Discussion

It was trivial to make Matter Overdrive work with Java 7 - I pulled it off in 5 minutes for BetterThanMinecon in massive stress just before the launch. I don't think they use it extensively yet. If I were them, I'd wait for Lex more than anyone else.

what is your favorite mod :P

We use the exact same rendering class for items in pipes, so setting it to Fast makes in-pipe objects also render as flat 2D sprites - and thus much, much more GPU-efficiently.

what is your favorite mod :P

That would be terrible, as many people I know play on toasters, use Graphics: Fast *and* expect pipes to work the way they do. Viewing items in pipes is a gameplay issue for us, not a graphics issue. What we do, however, is respect them in the following ways (for now): The effect of pipes going...

what is your favorite mod :P

Java is not BuildCraft's issue. Java is a very performant language, and C++ is a pain to code in. Many modders, myself included, would not move on to C++ modding. Many of Java's characteristics are what makes modding at this level possible. The issue is Mojang's code not being up to par with...

what is your favorite mod :P

Have you tried BuildCraft Lists? Especially the ones in the up-and-coming 7.1 alpha. Also, BuildCraft item rendering also got a boost in BC7. I've had as many as 5000 unique items rendering in pipes while still playable (granted, at 5000 items you DO need a ""high-end"" GPU, like my GTX 960; a...

That's because all our textures changed both location and looks. They need to be redone.
