EE3 is a bit OP and requires restraint to use. I usually just don't use it at all but in our current LP we have dabbled in it and I feel dirty
Hmm... I don't look at EE3 as making the pack OP. I look at it as a tool to go crazy and do more. With a good EE3 set up I have loads of most resources at my disposal to build pretty much any size vanilla (and some over overlap mods) structure I want. Once you move away from vanilla blocks into other mods you still need to do most of the leg work. Currently I'm working on a Mekanism Reactor and the materials for the Solar Evaporators are intense and honestly EE3 can't help with the copper or Osmium. I think I would have agreed with you about 6 months ago but now when I play a mod pack I look at it as "it was meant to be played this way". I really like Daybreaker. The devs did a great job. I've played with most of the mods now and I'm liking them all. My favs of the newer mods are AppltMilkTea, Aura Cascade, Clockwork Phase, Difficult Life, Equivilent Exchange, Essential Craft, Mekanism (new to me)... okay this list is too long to type out. Great work guys!

Yeah, there's an update coming. There's been a few complications with the update that I'm not going to go into, but those should hopefully be resolved soon.

On the bright side, the tritanium block recipes, the purification chamber, and a whole bunch more has already been fixed. I'm just having a little bit of trouble with a certain mod.

I did want to ask. Anyone else have a botania config file in this pack? I was a little puzzled by that.

So, Matter Overdrive updated recently, and aside from the absolutely stellar (pun intended) changelog, it also included this tidbit: anything before Java 8 is no longer supported. I'm curious - what are all your opinions on that? Personally, I think it's fine, but I know there's a large group of people still hanging out on Java 7 (and even a few on Java 6), and I'd like to hear what they think about it.

My problem with updating Matter Overdrive in Horizons is that it forces people to use Java 8 - and not just any Java 8, either. We've established that Galacticraft doesn't even work with OpenJDK 8, meaning that we'd be forcing people to go with Oracle. We have stated before that we don't support non-oracle java versions and that we're trying to move away from Java 7, but I'm not sure I'm ready to restrict people that much.

That said, there are a large number of issues involving Matter Overdrive that were fixed in the update - quite a few critical ones that determine whether the mod is usable or not. I think at this point I'm faced with either removing it or forcing people on to Oracle Java 8, and I'm not sure which to do. I do love Star Trek.

Simply disable the mod. Those who are rocking Java 7 can still use Matter Overdrive.

Edit: I'm using Java 8, but I wouldn't dread waiting for a new version of Matter Overdrive.

I'm personally fine with Java 8; I've been running it on all my systems for ages now. But that's just me.

My vote is to go ahead with it, and provide instructions on how to disable it for those who'd prefer to stay behind. Java 8's been out for over a year, after all.

I'm pretty sure that others have experienced this before as well, but I still think I should report it.

Whenever I'm on a server and I use a laser from Geko's Lasers, the server crashes. Again, I think that others may have reported it but I'm going to do so again just to be sure. Is there any way to fix this?

Pack is very interesting, but desperately in need of updating (yes, I'm aware of the issue). Imagine my surprise when building 4 Enderium turbines from Advanced Generators and only getting 400 rf/tick out of it. I updated it (and several other mods) myself, but I can imagine it being very frustrating for others.

The only thing I'm finding a bit frustrating is the other growth accelerator I know of in the pack is the Open Block sprinkler and various fertilized dirt type things, but none of these function quickly enough to allow me to have a reasonably sized farm to fuel my ethylene addiction.

Right, how are they going to show off the other new mods if some of them aren't going to work =P

I'm a fan of the pack, but as you said, it needs to be updated.

EDIT: After looking at multiple forums, my previous problem can be fixed by manually updating Geko's Lasers to version 0.7.1, client and server side. I hope that the next update to this pack (which is hopefully soon) will include Geko's Lasers 0.7.1 automatically for all of our conveniences. =)

Has anyone figured out how to make oil and fuel for Galacticraft? The recipe for the filled canister just makes an empty canister.

Here we are, with two rockets on the launch pad just sitting and waiting…

I'd also like to see something that improves upon enchanting. I admit to being a bit spoiled from EIO's enchanter (and enchanting plus at times) but I can't stand vanilla enchanting. Enchanting dozens or hundreds of books to get the enchants you want (and not having Bibliocraft to copy them...) just isn't something I find fun (and try getting a tier 5 soul shard without a Soul Stealer 5 weapon...blech.)

Well... I know it isn't in the pack, but Tinker's Construct IS great for "enchanting." You can get any vanilla enchant (I think), and the tools themselves are pretty cool. But for this pack... Maybe Aura Cascade? I haven't played with that mod, or really even the pack as a whole.

My understanding is Aura Cascade only is able to create specific Aura Cascade enchants. Essential Craft has an enchanter, but it's random like vanilla enchanting. I just like being able to pick my enchants (or get them passively through fishing...but there doesn't appear to be any sort of auto-fisher in the pack, either.)

I really want to see stuff added to the nether. To my knowledge there isn't any use for the nether outside of vanilla and after a single wither fight and killing one blaze my portal is useless

So…is there any way to get Galacticraft fuel? None of the ways folks have posted about actually work (except maybe hoping to get the right dimlet, which is a low-return kinda thing). The methane synthesizer requires resources from the asteroid belt to make, and because of ztones we don't get fragments either.

We're really enjoying the rest of this pack, but the Galacticraft and Essentialcraft sides are…sub-par.

Current version.. Look at the recipe for a oil filled canister.. should be a canister with obsidian on top/bottom and both sides.
