Just found out you can scan items in your inventory for Thaumcraft aspects by hovering with the Thaumometer on your courser over the item you want to scan.
Not quite, that is added by the mod aptly called thaumcraft inventory scanning, fantastic utility mod though, even lets you scan yourself which is the first way of doing that I've come across.

what's funny, and a bit abusive, is you can also scan items in the "output" box of a crafting recipe, even if you don't craft it. (I forget if you can abuse this to scan stuff you can't even make).

For instance, I needed gelum, so I made myself 9 blocks of snow, and "crafted" all the things you can make with snow (stairs, slabs, etc) and mouse-over scanned them without actually crafting them.

Based on the comment on the Forge side, this is fixed after 1.0.10

I'll miss that ability, but its probably a good thing.

I didn't mind exploiting it. From a scientific perspective, I could see it as drawing aspect-conclusions based on pre-existing aspect-knowledge.
yes right. I dont have a problem with alcohol eather, but because when I´m sober all the things are worse... So the problem are the things not the alcohol right? :)

Browsing thru CurseForge, I found a very interesting little mod called Practical Logistics. It looks to be a contender for both AE2's item and fluid logistics (though, not storage) and RFTools monitoring capabilities. You can do things like watch smelting progress in real time, monitor the amount of items you have in AE storage w/ only a single channel (need to hook it up to an AE interface), and do all those things across dimensions, as well. It certainly doesn't hurt that I, at least, find its fairly simple texturing to be quite pleasing. While I appreciate the work that goes into the more complicated texture work in other mods (esp. ChromatiCraft), simplicity keeps things from being overly busy, and overly busy things hurt my eyes, sometimes.

Antique Atlas, I discovered it right before GoG(So I guess it wasn't today but you know) it is really cool because it isn't some magical fourth wall map. It also has really cool textures. This is my new map mod.

Apparently the brightness of a node is proportionate to the amount of vis it stores.

Found out it's possible to get a roughly 200 block copper ore vein in terrafirmacraft right as I was trying to gather enough copper for an anvil.

Lucky! Etho complains enough about not finding enough bismouth and limonite as it is in his TFC map.

Found out two days ago about the power of the Gourmaryllis from botania.

I usually use the endoflame as my mana source. Setup in a mostly leave it and forget it system. Suplementing it with something else to get that little bit extra. Was doing the same here. Was trying out the Gourmaryllis to see what it could do. Now it is the only flower I am using. I have four of them on the second floor of my three floor mana farm. They are being fed off of three different ten ten ten crops from harvest craft. Layed out in nine by nine plots. Golems harvest the crops. Agricarnations help them grow. Hopperhocks attached to filtered (item frames) hoppers get the food to the flower. I needed the fourth to keep up with the nine by nine carrot farm on the first floor. The carrot farm easily overloads just one hopper when that is all that is assigned to it.

The system is producing massively more mana then I am used to. It is easily filling all the pools I have on top the base. Admittedly I ran out of diamonds a little while ago and haven't mined for awhile. So I can't throw terrasteel at it right now.
Had to take it down. I believe it was overloading the server and leading to server instability. Something to do with loads of items dropping constantly possibly. Now looking for a more server friendly method. When I get done with my other projects.

Looniums are freaking awesome. All this time spent searching for ender lilly seeds and this thing just spits them out all over the place. I think I have gotten close to a stack so far off it and it has only been running since yesterday.

Try using higher value food items (number of shanks not saturation). Pam's HC might be useful.

The best I've found (to the point it was borderline broken) was magicfood from Magical Crops, a Gourmaryllis fed one piece makes a really good amount of mana since one piece of magicfood = a full food bar.
My current world I'm running my entire Botania setup on 4 Gourmaryllis being fed Ambrosia, steak would be just as good but I have a lot of bee products. This setup produced enough mana to get my Terra Shatterer to rank SS in 2-3 days.
