One actually accepts that it's a total conversion mod and doesn't leech crap off other mods instead of taking the time to do it himself first.

OT: Total conversion mods as a whole.
What about TFC? It is total conversion with awesome world gen and crafting remapping, but it is tedious as hell. I am only able to watch it, playing it I am getting bored at about copper age every time. GT is nowhere near as tedious, specially with automation mods like BC (or AE/LP, which I personally don't like).

Well, most mods leech crap off of vanilla minecraft, so you have much of a point there

Difference is Better than Wolves has a degree of charm to it that you don't get in something as cold as GregTech.
When everyone's made everything, you tend to run out of ideas.
Well the problem is, for example, when pistons were added, no one used the mod anymore, and so there was no point even updating it anymore. This made him pretty pissed off, as making that mod was one of their favourite things to do ad play with, and Mojang took that away from them.
You mean Hippoplatimus? He gave the code of his mod to Jeb, who then implimented it into the game.
Hippo's credited for it and everything.
Hmm, the thing I read was clearly wrong then. I doubt it's the same with DrZhark and horses.
Zhark was the one who helped them add in new code for horses rather than his own IIRC.
Actually DrZhark assisted quite closely with the implementation of horses and it's not the first time he was approached by Mojang.
He was originally offered like $300 for some of his code back in Beta days, I don't know much about it but Zhark turned it down because Mojang didn't want sharks in their game, feeling it gave an unfair disadvantage to the player.
Mojang don't seem, to me, the type of people to straight up steal an idea or code.
They do what Eloraam does. They take a concept, design it and implement with their own code.
And to argue that they have no right to do that is irrelevant. It's easy to forget, but the simple truth is:
They made Minecraft
Without these people, the mods that exaggerate their own existence wouldn't exist in the first place.
No, it doesn't give them the right to steal and they know that. They don't do that, but it does allow them some creative license towards ideas that may already exist.
I'm sure potions existed before Mojang did it.
Same with Dragons or Stained Glass.

On the subject though, there is something that irks me, and in true fasion...
You know what really grinds my gears?
When you die and complain about it, only to hear "yeah that happens" or "Oh well I did this and I'm alright"
But then someone else dies and suddenly it's EVERYONE'S problem.
This is especially the case when it's a server admin who abjectly refuses to cut you some slack and give you back what you lost unfairly or by an exploit, but spawns in what they lose when they die. Every. Damn. Time.

It's Mojang's game. If they want to add aesthetic, then they have more than enough right to do so.
