Look behind you
I'd really like to see a mod that somehow gives you outer-body mechanics, as in your presence leaves your body and can do stuff.

For example, the presence would be of several types:

1) The sight-form. This allows you to adventure to your heart's content, with mobs having to be closer to see you, and you being invisible to players. You even have a jump and speed boost. Don't forget, your real body stays in the same place. The downside is, you can't interact with the world in any way directly, and if you die in your outer body, you die for real.

2) The combat-form. This form can only go three chunks or so from you, but is able to attack mobs and players nearly invisibly, and can equip specialised astral weaponry and armour. Its death will put you to half a heart's health. Don't forget, none of these forms can walk through walls, though again they all have jump and speed boost.

3) The tangible-form. With this, you can travel three chunks again, and can interact with blocks. You can also

There would be an upgrade menu, where a single wither star can give you a point towards an upgrade on a skill tree, like increased jump boost in sight-form, strength-boost in combat form, ability to craft better astral weaponry, etc.

Astral gear would be only possible to make in the tangible-form. While in this form, any diamonds you mine become spirit diamonds, and these can be combined with the next ingredient:
Wither shards, made from a diamond pickaxe crafted with a nether star. You get three, and each shard goes into the crafting of the piece of gear, the rest of the pieces being astral diamonds, e.g.:

A = Astral Diamond
W = Wither shard

. A .
. A .
. W. Makes a sword.

A . A
AWA
A AA Makes a chestplate.

An astral projection mod? That sound pretty cool, and I bet you could fold it into an even larger, psi-themed mod. I don't think I've ever really seen that, now that I think about it, the only sci-fi mods we get are all about the technology, and never psi.

Kind of like dream dimension from witchery? But going into the overworld?

This could be an expansion to that surrogate mod that I can't remember the name of right now. There are chambers that you can build new body doubles in. Its on the tip of my tongue. I know its in the dw20 pack.

Anyways these abilities are things you could add to this or at least learn from it to build this mod.

what if you're playing a modpack, but the modpack allows you to select different types of difficulties.
each type of difficulty presents you a different set of configuration and the difficulty could be set either upon world creation or through a command ingame.
when you select a different difficulty you'd be required to restart the game.

a modpack creator would be able to set different types of difficulties, and with each difficulty certain items could be disabled through mod configuration, or certain values could be changed in mod configuration, either lowering values or making values higher. perhaps it could even work with HQM and give you a different set of quest lines with each difficulty

That sounds extremely useful, though I would suggest an amendment:

Essentially, what you need is not just configured difficulties, but non-global configs.
Though I know little about coding, forge, and such, I imagine such would require forge to be changed a fair bit in regard to how configs work.

What would you do with it? I know what I planned to do with it if I ever got round to adding it (or rather a block quite similar to it) but I'm curious as to what other people would use it for.

A password lock for doors? Have it only emit a redstone signal when its solved for a specific side.

There's often a struggle between wanting tough, destructive mobs that present a challenge and not wanting to be griefed in the early game - something that vanilla's method of having mobs slowly get stronger the longer a chunk is active tries to address but sort of fails at (since the place you want to be the safest is the area you're living the most).

That's why I think someone should make a Mob Invasion mod. Basically, you can use some type of mob-specific drop to craft a banner for a given specific mob, and when you place it down it signals that you've "declared war" on that mob. It will then send a huge invasion after you of progressively stronger enemies (or alternatively, each invasion includes a type of enemy that drops materials to craft a higher-tier banner), thus letting you decide when and where you actually want a tough challenge.

Or maybe winning the Invasion would disable that mob from spawning, and there'd be "levels" of mobs so a Level 1 Hungry Zombie Flag would stop all Level 1 Hungry Zombies from spawning but Level 2 Hungry Zombies still spawn. Also, mob levels, add nao!

Ever noticed how tedious and frustrating it is to upgrade your power system once you get a new tier of power conduits? I think that there should be a new item that will allow players to painlessly and automatically upgrade any power conduits that transmit RF or MJ power like those in Thermal Expansion, Buildcraft, and Ender IO. It should be a robot that can be placed on power conduits and will automatically break and replace power conduits once it starts running. It will also require power to operate meaning players should have an actual power system up and running by the time they craft and use this new item.

A mod, similar to Mystcraft in that it creates ages and allows inter dimensional travel, but:
1. Has far more expensive linking book recipes & restrictions by default - i.e. linking would go to corresponding points only.
2. Uses the table of registered world generators as as the basis for its ages. So, if ATG was installed players could, with a vanilla overworld, create a ATG based age to visit. With just vanilla, the normal, large biome and superflat generators would be available, and admins would be able to configure the presets available to the superflat generator.
3. Has a mechanisim to import at least the overworld dimension from other savegames as a dimension - using the level.dat world generator and generation string specified to ensure the age continues to expand naturally.

Hmm.
Multiworld has infinitely expensive linking books by default (as in, they don't exist, only the teleport command, and command blocks are very expensive in survival). I think (not tested) that it can work with any world that can be generated on a server. It can import overworlds from other saves, at least if the block ID mapping is the same (one good reason for requiring vanilla worldgen in overworlds :).

Disclaimer: I need to test and play with it. If it works, I want to make use of it.

(I know of no discussion thread for this mod.)[DOUBLEPOST=1413926914][/DOUBLEPOST]I am looking for a mod, that I know exists somewhere.

I'm looking for someone that has ported the new blocks from 1.8 back to 1.7.10.
