So now whenever I play all I hear is a tok tok tok sound like someone is mining... all around me. Which is super annoying when I am trying to play. then all of the sudden my floor breaks an zombies come in, or they break into my wall.

It has become completely intolerable. I can't play this pack unless I disable that mod entirely or you adjust the behaviors because it is ridiculous.

Something else I noticed (still haven't played the latest update). The portal, if you click on the portal blocks, acts like a chest?

which mod is that ? it annoys me as hell too
edit: regarding the bed issue. it seems its a biome issue. i couldnt set spawn in river, when i moved the bed some blocks to swampland it worked.

Lep i think its the horde mod he added in the pack to help with mob spawns but if anything i think he made this sometimes barely tolerable game intolerable to play without disabling it. Unless its only stone they can mine through and not cobble and the other blocks?

After reading Damien, Lepsink and Seawind's messages I decided to d/l the latest and start a new game to see how it went.

I went through the portal and I was set upon by six zombies and skeletons almost immediately. All moved super-fast. None moved at 'normal' zombie speed. I couldn't possibly have outrun them on level ground without sprinting all the time. Three were obvious specials (a plague zombie, two wither skeletons, 1 had a pumpkinhead). I jumped up to a slightly higher level to beat them down as they came up at me. Two mined through my portal to get at me, destroying it. I began hearing the tap-tapping which Damien complained about and in short order found that the floor was being mined out from under me. I can confirm that they can mine through cobble, hardened clay, and mossy cobble. I didn't see any of them mine through any ore but it wouldn't surprise me.

A merry chase ensued. A group of spiders won the contest by knocking me off a ledge.

Please. I never had a chance to open my questbook after going through the portal. Mine? HAH. Explore? HAH.

All I was doing was moving and hammering my sword button. I put a few torches down, each time I did, I got hit. Maybe I got an unlucky start, but that's much too unlucky to really be tolerable.

I believe you need to dial it back down a little, Drastic. Please.

You will now actually find mobs! \o/ In fact, hordes of mobs. Epic siege mod has been added back and you will no longer be stumbling in the dark looking for mobs to slay for that delicious dark power.

Is this why I suddenly have mobs spawning inside my supposedly well-lit base? Is there some way to make them stop?

I've actually gone through about 5 worlds to varying degrees of failure with much the same experience. The most 'successful' I've been is to corpse rush things, by only taking soulbound rewards from the book while punching my way through a zombie or two before I die again, usually respawning in an entirely different section of the map which is, to my monitor, entirely dark and unlit, at which point I usually just have to delete the world and try again since I quite literally cannot see well enough to navigate despite maximum brightness setting. I've never gotten so far as to make a base since the locals would just mine through the walls to kill me anyway.

So... I dunno. Seems like a neat pack, but I have absolutely no idea how I can possibly establish a base of operations from which to start working on things like growing trees, having a secure bed to act a spawn point, and whatever follows from there. Presumably resource acquisition?

i deactivated lycanites and now epicsiege. i think without those 2 mods you can have a relaxed start and get your base going. after that you can always activate the mods again.

obsidian doesn't help... i think surrounding base with lava, won't help becouse they can build

I ended up using my Hubris Skills and building my base sorta suspended over a large chasm. Some mobs still come at me but it tolerable to the point where I can just knockem into the lake.

i suggest to change config and allow zombies mine all but disable mining the obsidian, i tried to surround base with lava and build walls from obsidian.. they decide to replace lava source with cobble and mine obsidian it took them about 1 min soo..

I will tone it down a bit, but you can always disable epic siege mod in the launcher if it is too difficult for you.

Well late game when your super powerful and have some sweet armor i think the siege mod would be the perfect way to spice things up but in the beginning its to hard maybe try to make a horde or 2 spawn every couple of days like 7 days to die? I think if you could control when the horde spawns so we are ready than i think the siege mod would make a perfect edition to this modpack You could also add a Section that deals with the Siege mod itself with helpful items or tips for survival like how to build your base or where to look? I think the Hordes are like the taints in hubris not wanted and very annoying but it could be what makes or breaks this pack.

Are they able to break Warded Blocks? The siege monsters.

Not to sure but it would be a good idea to try. But would like to know if they could break fences? Make the walls from fences not sure what about the ceiling or if they even break in from the top, but you could always dig 5 blocks out of the bottom of your base to stop them from digging up.

The issue I'm now having is that they kinda nerdpole up to my base or make their own path from a ledge over the ravine.

I can't check ATM to confirm but it sounds like the X-ray setting on Epic Siege has been turned on. Disabling it should keep mobs that don't have LOS on you from just drilling straight to your base.

1.1.1 has been released
  • Mobs now spawn super often every 8th day instead of every day. On the 8th day they ignore light levels.
  • You now have 7 days before More Spawning kicks in when mobs can spawn 8 blocks from you rather than 24.
  • Zombies now require proper tools to grief and can no longer break obsidian.
  • Phantoms no longer spawn when trying to use the bed.
  • Clarified how to use the bed.
  • Geonach no longer spawn from breaking rocks, they naturally spawn underground now.
  • EMC Value for Vinteum - This will not apply to existing worlds. See the FAQ on how to update your EMC values.
  • Template updated - you should have a random world every time you go through the portal.
  • Added Aroma Backup
