Since we're doing general building suggestions in here as well, here's a little something that helps me out a lot: Try to break up those straight, flat walls a bit. Maybe add a column offset by 1 block every 5ish blocks, add a protruding ring around the towers on every floor, things like that. Just something to get away from the solid single-colour walls. Just don't get crazy on the contrast, Columns might work with basalt or xychorium bricks for example, stone brick could work but might already clash with the netherbrick.

Sorry. Could you possibly show me some pictures of what you mean? I'm terrible at interpreting things over the internet. I'm more of a visual person.

I like to break up my flat walls with texture. You would be surprised how much better something look just by making clever use of stairs. Or some light micro block use.

ok so if you don't want to use color here is some simple options you can do with the neither brick you have on hand.

Stairs can be used to make indents into your walls giving them a nice look there are a few ways to do this.

Stairs can even be used to make arrow slit type windows.

You can use the neither brick fences to add runners up and down the wall in places to give it a more 3d look.

If you have the space for it adding a block indent can spice things up.

You can even put stuff in that indent like fences.

of half slabs.

So all that just using the 4 neither brick blocks. You can do much more if you start looking at other blocks or dip into micro blocks.

I'll post an update in a little bit. It's a really small one. I switch out the glass for viewer and used some stairs to add some depth. I'm sorta at a loss right now for where to go now. I need a lot more room then this. And I'd rather not have the entire thing be towers. I wanna have a huge wide open area.

I took your advice to spice things up. In some places I just used nether brick stairs and i'm trying to decide what color slabs I like better. Personally, I love all of them.

Yea. I suppose they do. Grr. I just love the color so much. Well, I'm not really sure what to do. I'm trying to figure out a good design for a main area. It needs to be HUGE. I also need to figure out a better design for the walls.

Yeah I like the edging.

I am one that abuses the hell out of stiars and halfslabs in many of me builds to spice up the look of htings.

Thanks. I think it keeps the circle shape well, but it also appeals to my obsession with squares. I've had a slight change of plan in my storage path. Originally, the 2 large rooms to the side where going to be just barrels on the walls. But I've discovered AE and i'm in love. So I only need 1 room for that. What should I do with those rooms? Should I keep them rectangle and put machines and stuff there? Also, I'm trying to figure out a good shape and size for a room that would be HUGE. It would house most of my multi blocks. Probably my ore processing line, my liquids and probably much more.

dont worry about empty space. It can either be furtre use. (you never know what is comming with mods) Or you can use it to work on your design skills. I like using empy space to play with microblocks making furniture and trying to make the space look lived in.

ok. I'll leave them empty for now then. For now I need to get some ideas going. I'm not the creative type unfortunately.

You know how to you become the creative type?

Do more. It really is that simple.

What I do is sort of collect ideas and file them away for later. But an easy way to build your creative mind is just pick something random out of of NEI figure out how to works and then try to build something around it.

Or pick something here

Need some ideas

Thanks.

I work odd hours though. Like don't plan on seeing me around until after 1130pm EST most nights.

Once I get something setup I can remote in with my tablet but its really painful and only useful for simple tasks requiring as little movement as possible. Like brute force enchanting of book ect..

It's fine. Don't be sorry. You're entitle to your opinion. I'll have to work on the wood some more. As I said before, I don't really like the wood textures anyway. Maybe i'll have to use some other different material.[DOUBLEPOST=1364259977][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I would love some bee experts insight here. I keep breeding Cultivated and Common but I never get a noble. Do I need to do something extra or is it just rare? I've gone through at least 15 sets of bees. I also got this Industrious Bee. I like it. It's very shiny. Does it do anything more then just look cool?
INdustrious produces Pollen. Noble shouldn't be that rare at all. Beealyze all your Cultivated/Common hybrids, find out.

There where some cool ideas in there. I may try some. I'm thinking about where I should my main power area now. I don't know if it should be above or below ground. I need somewhere to put my solar panels so it may have to be above ground. But some of the bigger power may take place under ground.
