@AlCapella @Pyure @CarbonBasedGhost
Well, my new aptly named image is ready. Sorry it took so long, I was fixing the goddamn lawnmower transmission and drive belt for around 8 or so hours.

@Queue ever thought about volunteering texture services to GT itself? I have developed a liking for the way the mod has alters game dynamics, but playing with it regularly makes me want to poke my eyes out! (I am only half-joking here!) Warning: I sense a rant coming on

\begin{rant}
If nothing can you start with his bloody Invar and make it better? Use TE3's Invar as your template. That Invar's shading and colour make me reach for anti-depressants. And every time I mix dusts in the table, it's his freaking invar pile! Aaaargh, can I have TE3 Invar please... I am using TE3 dusts! Same goes for those granite stones (mobs cannot spawn on those) ! Can someone tell him that there's black, then there's *shades* of black! I build corridors and paths with those stones (for obvious reasons), and then dread walking down those corridors later!
[drinks a glass of water] Oh, my poor eyes.....
\end{rant}

@SpwnX ^^ self-proclaimed PR manager for GT? What do you think of this idea? Please make it float? :)
@CarbonBasedGhost would you also pitch in, in support of this? At the very least, as a (former) Kiharite, you might not get banned before opening your mouth :D

@CBG, on other unrelated news, I am placing before you our union's demands a request to add an agriculture quest page in that "book of rage" that you'll be shortly unleashing on the public. Speaking of which, pack code? :p

Have a great weekend, you all!

Oh ya, @AlCapella I agree with you on the dusts being not detailed but for the amount of textures Greg supports for a practicly infinite amount of ores I don't think he has time unfortunately.

I agree with you about poor greg's overstretched timeframe, but it's not an argument that people will buy for long. It is a publicly acknowledged fact by greg himself that his "add-on" mod is a monster undertaking. In which case, he should solicit the help from people who are good with texturing to help him on this front. I've heard people defending him with the "Admit it! They're pretty nice textures, for a programmer, right?" on many forums, but this argument is invalid. No one expects him to code and texture and cook and dance at the same time! More people would've been happier if he had allowed someone with artistic chops to handle the aesthetics part of his mod instead :)

Anyway, I would be extremely happy if he can actually be talked into fixing all of his textures. I've seen tutorial videos for GT5 and it seems he is implementing newer textures and a new unification.cfg to tie them with other mods. While some of them are an improvement over the previous eyesores, aesthetics is simply NOT his strength.

You need to show me a screenshot of the ones that bother you so much; I'm curious :p

I play GT fulltime these days; I can't think of any particularly horrifying textures off the top of my head.

Invar for starters... Its contrast is so dull, it's a pain to see it. And all those granites : black and red... Go mining and bump into those black granites, and it is like some optical illusion. I sometimes hold sneak to ascertain if it is not actually an opening to a crevasse :(
How about silver. Place Factorisation, TE3 and GT silver next to each other....
Steel. Take Railcraft, Mekanism, TiCo and GT steel and place them next to each other.
And his nether ores.... Blink and miss Cinnabar and sphaelerite (I think) that tries hard to blend into the netherrack. :( By contrast, I can actually identify cobalt or ardite that spawned behind iron bars in a nether fortress corridor. :(

And it is not just the ores, those machines too! At a hasty glance of scrolling with my eye, I cannot identify anything that sets them apart from one another.... His silver ingot is so dull, and his bronze age machines hurt the eye... go figure!

I'm going to stop now or I am going to go "frothing in the mouth ranter" in a minute :(

It's not just the textures themselves @Pyure, it's their overall contrast with respect to their surroundings. Their inability to be instantly identified as "this is metal X" at a glance. I think it is a combination of factors that make me go "blechhh" when it comes to GT.

I'll do some screenshots later when I have access to the game.

I prefer his April Fools textures to his default ones.

Maybe my red/green colorblindness is saving me here :)

The only one I have trouble with is Pyrite vs Sphalerite: they look identical to me. Cinnabar has a distinctly reddish tinge (to my eyes) that makes it easy to see.

Silver doesn't exist at all for this pack, maybe that's good?

I also turn OFF hidden ores, as its ridiculous. The whole point of minecraft is digging and finding ores.

Hidden ores is a little different than that. I prefer to keep it on for a challenge. But really all it does is make the ores that come in huge veins have some deposits that look like stone.
