@Textures: Greg doesn't give a fat flying fuck about textures. Currently SirusKing is doing IC2 style ones (no pack posted currently, he is like 70% done afaik). The pack you will want however, and the one I am using and most of our server uses is Pyrosolite/Backdraft. He has a metric shitton of textures in different packs, part of this "Modular Minimalism" thing he is doing. He does a lot of pixel art and taught me a lot of what I know. Here is his MCF post with all of his work and the link following is the GT specific pack he makes.

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...1-7-10-pyrolusites-resource-packs-pyrolusites (all packs including Minimalist HUD which is fucking awesome btw :) )

http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=10570&highlight= (IC2 pack)

The issue with gregtech textures is gradients and colors. Greg uses too drastic a gradient on his machines and that fucks it up, something Pyro has fixed with his pack(s) (and a gradient style you see I used in my splash art btw, all thanks to Pyro's advice). And @AlCapella , I was actually making a GT resource pack until Pyro started posting his stuff and then I realized that we don't need 3 texture artists working on one mod, especially with how fast and how well Pyro does his.

And Pyure, hidden ores are not only done away with in 1.7 but something that matters very little with WAILA. I liked them because it made you focus whilst mining, but it is such a subtle change and simple config fix if you prefer it not to be that it really doesn't get in the way. If you understand how it works and keep an eye out, you will have very little trouble. For how it works, consult the community wiki: http://gregtechcommunitywiki.wikispaces.com/Ores

No worries; I get how they work, I even get the intent. Maybe its due to partial colorblindness, but I find spotting things challenging enough without the extra effort.
Its an easy config switch so I typically make the change any time I start a GT game.

Maybe my red/green colorblindness is saving me here :)

The only one I have trouble with is Pyrite vs Sphalerite: they look identical to me. Cinnabar has a distinctly reddish tinge (to my eyes) that makes it easy to see.

Silver doesn't exist at all for this pack, maybe that's good?

I also turn OFF hidden ores, as its ridiculous. The whole point of minecraft is digging and finding ores.
Did you know that locating ores in real life is about as straightforward as it is in GT with hidden ores enabled?
Or that there is a prospecting hammer in GT?

I understand greg's apathy towards textures - he's more of a "functionality triumphs form" person so far. But then again, his overall weirdness is also well known :p . But, given how much of game overhauling his mod does, he should really be giving a lot more "fat flying fucks" about how his work shows up in-game for the rest of us. ;) But then again, ... :(

My in-game experience with his mod has improved a lot ever since I started using the faithful32 FTB pack by @DZCreeper and Co. Alas, server load/poor connection/weak PC combination means that I have to play on default textures a lot of the times! That's when my rage coefficient shoots up with his textures. While I keep playing with them, I am not that comfortable with texture packs that deviate away from the "original" minecraft look (mostly because I am too used to default textures for navigating the world -- ooh, look there's some silver ore!) and so I fall back to faithful32 (If at all creeper abandons the project I would be mighty unhappy).

You have identified the main fault with the textures: the contrasts are too drastic and his general sense of colour aesthetics sucks donkey balls!

So, regarding those links for resource packs you have shared here, I like that guy already, just for this comment in his thread ;)

At the time GT Alpha for 1.7 came out, I could not stand its textures. That's why I ended up making a resource pack early on for this mod.
^^ Preach it, brother!

I see that pyro sticks to default textures, which is comforting. But he's all 16x isn't he? If I wanted his 32x along with faithful32 for the rest of the mods, what do I download? And should I copy contents of his pack into my faithful32.zip, right? So, which one of his packs offers 32x?

PMHUD x32 < This?

Could I have a non HUD variant of his textures in 32 at all?

Does the same rationale abov ^^ go for his IC2 textures also? replace the IC2 directory with his IC2 in the faithful32 zip file?

In theory I could just download all of it and bumble through it all, but your input would be appreciated.

On other news, DZCreeper might actually unify faithful32 textures so common ores will retain common textures. If this happens, then some of greg's sorry textures might get a much needed facelift...

Thanks.

EDIt: Would it be possible to share your final kihara mods/configs, MC version and forge version? I would like to see how much of a upsell GT 5 is on my local PC. :)

Indeed, hence my post.
Never used it myself, honestly, but that's perhaps because I want a rechargable hammer for field prospecting.
I love using my wrought iron hammer in things like mineshafts. It is great for scoping out a large area to dig.

I'm doing this on mobile so you have to bear with me.

If you have a lower end PC, just do the 16x textures, which are great. If you want 32x, I would wait for SirusKing to get his act together and release his textures, which are styled after the "vanilla" ic2 ones, seeing as he does the vanilla ic2 ones.

But you were asking about combinations of texture packs... Something that Minecraft 1.7 has an answer for. If you go to the resource pack menu, you can see 2 panes. Add whatever individual resource packs you want on the left via the normal resource pack folder route, then move the ones you want over to the right by hovering over a pack and selecting the right arrow. Then you can hover over your selected packs and order them by which ones are most important with the up and down arrows, which enable you to have one pack set preference over another. All in all what this system enables a multiple packs to be used together. If you want faithful, but pyro's textures for example, just add both packs and set preference to pyro's so all gregtech machines are his textures.

Also
The 32x pack of his you were referring to was his HUD, but that is all he has for 32x so far.

Here is the list of the mods and config of the server : http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&postID=152179#post152179
Have fun installing them all on your own :p

I am well aware of that thread. Thanks.

Currently I think it is impossible, as some modders don't keep old versions. Just ask on the forum thread and people will hand you a copy of any mod you need though.

Since we were talking about GT and worlds and oregen, throughout this thread, my curiosity over the the kihara worldgen was piqued.
If I knew the forge version, I could set up the baseline on multimc in 2 mins. The exact mod versions used in kihara is my issue. Even the configs is there for takings. As @Queue mentions, getting the precise version of mods used is the issue. Hence my asking here directly.

But, seriously, I don't have to reinvent the wheel all over, just for this. Frankly, it is not that important to me.[DOUBLEPOST=1405770006][/DOUBLEPOST]

1.7 is a lonnggg waaayyy off for most of us. Our packs are in 1.6.x still. So that multi-pack jugglery is out for me. I'll figure this one out.
Thanks.

The oregen is UndergroubdBiomes stones with PFAA ores and stones.

And as for 1.7, very few mods are not updated, we've been playing on it for months... Unless you have a specific ftb pack then.

But if you wanted his textures in 1.6 then you have to go and edit the faithful 32.zip and add his textures under the ic2 and gregtech folders and such. It would be a bit of a mess

Kirara 2 worldgen is the following:

Configured Custom Ore Gen to use UB stones over PFAA ones whenever possible and to generate some modded stuff on vein style (TC shards) + PFAA Geologica ores on the overworld + GT worldgen special condition when PFAA is installed + Naquadah GT worldgen on the end.

I have watched mr10movie's LPs, so ^^ this is all old news or no news to me. He tells you all this in his videos as well.

I wanted to experience it myself, but..... like I said before, seriously, I don't have to reinvent the wheel all over (beg around in forums, get jokey-trolled, etc), just for this. Frankly, it is not that important to me.

If it was as simple as a zip file from one of you to just download , copy into my minecraft (get the right forge version) directory instance, and start playing, it's all right. Else, i don't care.

Anyway, ....
