Twisto51 has a post in the community showcase. He claims to be uber creative, but his showcase post is just showcasing everything he claims to be against.

http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/thr...r-panel-factory-unleashed-survival-smp.31893/

There is no creativity here. No making noteblocks play a song, or whatever else people use as evidence of being creative and not wanting competition. no crazy building, no refined designs. Its a square box with a slanted roof. Which isnt bad... unless you are arguing that people should be designers and super creative when you really churn out ultimate solar panels and showcase it on forums.
You are so far off base you're going to need a wand of return to get back. I claim exactly the opposite, having little creative ability. Take a look at the woodworker thread in community showcase where I specifically point out that it is great for those of US that don't have the creativity needed to come up with aesthetic designs with basic blocks.

As far as it being a square box with a slanted roof every old brick factory I found in google image search when looking for inspiration for an old, brick factory-like building looked like that. Form follows function, right? I'm more focused on how something works than how it looks. That building produces ~64 ultimate hybrid solar panels a day now without me lifting a finger, without any external resources other than sunlight.

Building a factory that could do that was a challenge I created for myself, since modded minecraft itself runs out of challenge quite quickly---which is what I thought we were discussing. You don't need creativity to come up with challenges like that, you need willpower to start and finish them.

Lastly, I don't see why you'd come to the conclusion that the original post upset me, or that I felt it undermined my accomplishments. After all, I agreed entirely that there is little to no challenge whatsoever in the modpack. Having trouble following your logic on this one.

He just wants to rage at people who don't want to worry about food after playing modded minecraft for two years; don't try to follow any logic.

That's quite unnecessary. He's just looking for something he can wholly enjoy(Rather than finding parts of something that are enjoyable in an otherwise dull game to his tastes) in the wrong place. We're not here just as people who play FTB, we're here as people who play modded minecraft in search of the type of game they enjoy. We should try as best we can to offer refugee for as many options as possible.

The main problem is that people think they know what they want; they don't. As well there is no best pack. We should instead seek to make the best packs.

Remove every single mod, add zombie awareness with the hardest possible settings, infernal mobs with the hardest possible settings, and then play in hardcore mode.

Trust me, you'll spend 99% of your time running and hiding.

Wonder where you got that idea from? :p

I watch a couple people on twitch using a set of mods with zombie awareness, infernal mobs, mo creatures and a number of other difficulty increasing things and they play on hardcore. I believe one is already past their 30th world after about a week and the other one is around 27, but is taking a break. There's such a thing as too hard. They both have tech mods and even dartcraft installed, but just obtaining resources to get things going poses a serious challenge.

Dude, Dwarf Fortress is free and it's the hardest game ever created... Even though it's only in Alpha!
Why don't you give it a shot. It's complex, it lacks a bit of depth, but it is just so fun.

I agree with everything you wrote, except the depth part.
Dwarf fortress has a tonne of gameplay depth to it. what it actually lack is good visuals.

I once had my dwarven minions carve out a large hall for my mountain king, it was 5 levels tall at the tallest, with balconies, and support pillars that were 5 dwarves thick. all adorned with the most precious art they could muster. Then something bad came from the depths........
And so is the lives of dwarves.

No, it has depth in that sense. It doesn't have depth in storyline (although almost all roguelikes lack a Bioshock-quality story).
I've died because a cave-in smashed the people at the meeting room (aka everyone). It was hilarious.

Did you try telling it "You shall not pass!"?)

my captain of the royal guard tried to i think. don't think he managed to complete the sentence before he died tbh. it was a one hit kill, and it was the first sign that something was going horribly wrong. 10 minutes later everyone was either dead, dying, or out of their mind with rage/shock/grief that there was nothing more to do. may Armok watch over their eternally restless souls. :([DOUBLEPOST=1381500867][/DOUBLEPOST]

we kinda used different definitions of depth then, and i agree, it has no storyline to speak of, but for me, that is part of the fun. I like to make my own story.
And as far as gameplay goes, this game is plenty deep, there is just so many things you can do, it's almost limitless. It's kinda like minecraft in a sense, except that you aren't doing the grindy bits yourself.

Yeah - Roguelikes are "make your own story" mixed with epicness and being incredibly hard games.
They're just so fun.
