How does armor work?

I made a suit of nano armor, it colors in 9 out of 10 armor icons. I read that it reduces damage by 90%. Seems simple.

Then I made some MPS legs and feet for fast movement and jumping, but kept the Nano advanced chest plate, and the helmet. The nano chest plate has a jetpack, so I can jump high and move fast, but still float using hover mode on the jetpack.

I also put the energy armor modules up to full power, top batteries, etc. It shows ALL armor icons filled up, but i seem to be taking more damage than I did with just a regular suit of nano armor.

Is there some glitch or issue with combining armors?

EDIT: I just made a full set of MPS armor and it shows all armor icons full... but i let a zombie hit me and i took damage. I didnt install the armor module on the head, as even without it I had, supposedly, 'full' armor protection.

Combining armors? Like the vanilla thing? You can't do that with nano suits or MPS armors. You charge them in a IC2 power container. That way they never run out of durability!

I thought MPS suits were close to quantum suits in damage reduction, but so far they seem more like nano armor.

Oh lol no, there is a mod for that called industrial combo armors, but it's not in any of the FTB mod packs yet. Hopefully it'll get added soon after it gets balanced out.

Could someone give a quick explanation of the cosmetic pane for MPS? I tried to change my helmet's color and now all the beautiful armor just doesn't show up...

I think at least the quantum armor does some sort of extra damage reduction, as does MPS and presumably your nano advanced chestplate (I believe this is from GraviSuite). If these extra reductions check for other components of the armor, and don't simply add, you could end up with reduced damage absorption. If they are additive (this seems unlikely given at least 2 different approaches to the extra damage reduction), your only loss would be using a less capable piece of armor (e.g. you would have lower armor even if they work perfectly together if you turned down your MPS armor to 1pt each).

I made a full set of MPS armor and again have full armor icons on the bar, and now I barely take any damage at all. Im curious to test it, if i can drag myself away from SMP. Who has time to test things in creative? :)

Well i try to analyze the unusual bee using honey drop. And when i place the bee my game freezes and crashed. I read the crash logs. And i saw something about forestry GUI.

Well that's strange. Post the log on the MCF post so people can see it, then sengir can see it so that he can fix whatever bug is causing it.

Is there anything to replace Buildcraft's builder and/or
Redpower's frame motor, yet?

Redstone in motion or the truss mod fir frames. There's not really a fix for the builder yet, and whoever does build craft now doesn't seem to express an interest unfortunately. It was a pretty cool doodad.

I don't know about the other variants but Calclavia's take on MFFS allows you to record a structure as a force field pattern and place the right blocks to rebuild it when set up a certain way. The process to record a structure is much improved over the architect's table, too.

Is the spawn chunk-loading behaviour the same as mod-blocks, like a World Anchor?

Just started a new world, and spawned precisely where I think I'll make my permanent home. So can I go without CC or RC chunk-loaders, and just rely on the default minecraft mechanic to keep my machines always loaded? (yeah, it sounds like a dumb question, but y'never know)

What are my options when it comes to harvesting wheat?
1. MFR harvesters. Will pick the whole place apart since it's largely built of logs.
Place one on the side of the 5x5 field with a size 1 upgrade in it. It should only see the field of wheat and no logs, so it shouldn't harvest your logs.
4. Steve's carts. These are large, ugly, and will require a constant coal suppy. And they'll run 24-7 even if there's no wheat to be gathered (no timers etc in 152ngt). Does not fit well.
If your cart can see the sky, you could also use a solar engine, so no need for constant coal. And for the 24-7 running: Build a Holding Track or Boarding Track in your track loop and place a ComputerCraft Computer next to it. Run a program with a startup script, that will send a redstone signal for a second in the direction of the track and then go to sleep again for the time you wish for it to wait until the next round.

nor can i find a config for the data orb to be crafted now it only works in a assembling machine

That's because GregTech changed its mechanics to require the assembling machine (via an entirely new, two-part circuit recipe). There is no config to change this back because this is not a change to another mod (the IC2 recipe still exists and works fine), but rather a pure GregTech feature.

MFR: Actually harvesters have quite much larger AoE, and will also stretch upwards - this to get all the branches of a tree. I'm using a 3x3 Sakura wood farm with an unupgraded harvester, and it picks down at least in a 7x7, and at least 10 blocks high.

SC: Yeah but the farm is inside my barn, which does not have sky access! Smart idea with the CC+Holding track though.

I'm currently testing out the straw golem + wood golem (teching was surprisingly fast) and they seem to work well though, for the small scale this is.
