Ah cool, that sounds like its my answer, so I'll take it! I remembered, after posting, about the floral fertiliser and the fact that it is fairly straightforward to make, so I think that's my next step - hopefully RNG will be kinder there ;) Thanks @Inaeo!

As soon as you have one flower of the colour you want, you have as many as you want. You can plant the petals, and bonemeal them to get tall versions, use shears on them and get 4 petals per 1 planted.

Appatite makes this stupidly easy!

The rod is my go-to for this task. You're the victim of bad RNG on the white flowers, but once you break into the mod, the Rod of the Shifting Crust isn't out of reach for but a moment. It's surprisingly light on Mana usage, and I find unless I'm doing a ton of swapping, a single tablet (used for all my Botania treats) lasts quite a while, so even a simple Mana generation setup should suffice if you want to rush it.

Quick update: Between these two very handy tips (thanks again @Inaeo and @Cptqrk!) and the floral fertilizer, I very quickly set myself up a little Botania area, and within an hour or so I had my Rod of Shifting Crust! It was remarkably quick and easy to make considering it uses a Tier 3 rune (sloth - nicely chosen :D), not too much bother at all! Very pleasant surprise.

I tried to replicate DW20's endoflame build by having blocks of charcoal pop up into the area of the flowers using AA's precision droppers to try and place in the dirt space they're planted on, but for some reason instead of just popping up into the same blockspace as the endoflames, the blocks veritably flew up into the air!!! I'm wondering what I did wrong there! :p

I thought dire used the droppers (open crate? what ever the dropper thing from botania is) and the phantom face from AA... He's not shooting items up through the ground like a vanilla item elevator, what sounds like you are doing due to the flying items :)

For simplicity's sake, I just usually do the hopper/redstone/pressure plate method of dropping like dire normally does at the start of his botania runs.

Beyond with some additions and config tweaks:

We have AgriCraft Resource Crops enabled, and I find myself perpetually out of Redstone. I have Redstone seeds at 10/10/10, but I'm struggling to find a way to automate harvesting them outside of XU Mechanical Users. I have a slow trickle from a few plants on Mechanical Users, but my operation will require a much more abundant harvest than they can keep up with. My last hope was the Forestry Multifarm, since I remember that working with crop sticks, but I don't know what kind of tubes would work on this kind of crop, even in a managed farm.

Has anyone succeeded at this task before me, or will I require an army of Mechanical Users?

That's a nice simple setup. I just set up a Gourmaryllis eating a continuous diet of toast using an AA Precision Dropper and an RFTools Timer. The same concept, just a bit neater IMO. I'm thinking I'll set up my Entropinnyum the same way, although I'll take a few extra safety precautions with that.

I've found for myself in Beyond that the Red Orchid flowers from ExU2 are actually surprisingly prolific - and new ones seem to occur much more commonly when harvesting existing red orchids than they do breaking grass in the wild. I started with 2, and I've now got 5 or 6, and all those extras have come from having those original two planted on redstone ore in my base and regular harvesting!

TL;DR, I think you might be able to get a very respectable rate of redstone production with a handful of Mechanical Users, Red Orchids and some Greenhouse Glass!

Just curious, but how do you not have several billion redstone just from mining/quarrying? If anything, I've always had a redstone *problem*, as in where am I going to store this all?

As a workaround, I did set up a patch of 13 Red Orchids (all the Redstone Ore I had on hand) before walking away last night. I have an AA Farmer aimed at it, but I didn't stick around long enough to see if it would harvest them for me. Here's hoping.

At this point, my level of tech is laughably simplistic. I was inspired to build a bridge after I settled down, and frankly it's eaten most of my playing time (which is much smaller than I would like it to be). All the materials for the project have been hand collected by myself, and I have no automated resource gathering except a Tier IV Woot Factory and some charcoal farming. But that's changing now...

I've decided to grow what resources I can with AgriCraft (Iron, Gold, Nether Quartz, Lapis, Glowstone, Redstone, Diamonds, and Emeralds), and I have 10'd seeds of each growing in front of Mechanical Users for automation. The problem then is Copper and Tin (a few others too, but mostly those for now). My solution is Reliquary's Tome of Alkahest. It can dupe a great many things, but it costs Redstone/Glowstone to recharge. Well, I'm going to begin autocrafting with it, so I'll require a metric shitton of Redstone/Glowstone to keep up.

My fall back plan is to push through enough Botania to get the Conjuration Catalyst and a steady supply of Mana. Then I can use that to produce my recharge stock while I redirect all the misguided farming attempts on to ImmEng power generation (mostly because I love the aesthetics of the mod).

That is, unless Sprout releases and I jump ship...

I actually kind of like the idea of growing the ores like that.

I love automating things, but this current run I automate things WAY TOO FAST. It's great on the surface, but I could totally see me doing another run where I automate things a bit slower than that. Growing it sounds perfect.

I want my automatic generation to be more of a supplement than instant creative mode.

Isn't there a mod that adds a EnderIO farming station that's modified to be compatible with Agricraft?

My server admin's favorite mod is Mystical Agriculture (or other form of growing all the things). Unfortunately, I always feel like the resource scarcity stages just end to abruptly for my tastes when using it (have none, have a little, have infinite). The compromise was AgriCraft Resource Crops, since all the mob farming can be done a dozen other ways and AgriCraft does a better job of not instantly making creative mode (for instance, gold plants give nuggets rather than ingots). Seeing as the only way we've found to automate them so far is Mechanical Users, nobody on the server has made more than a trickling farm yet, which is fine for most things (unless you're dedicated to chewing through a tech tree in a sitting).

I'm hoping Beyond - hard mode makes it a little harder to reach creative mode at least. On my current run, this is the farthest I've gotten and it already started to feel like I'm in garbage time already now that my inventory system is pretty much set. I could make it way more efficient, too, but there's just no reason. Now I'm literally going to build a million block cube of Iron and Gold blocks*. Because what else am I gonna do with all this?

*I say this like I'm not totally going to enjoy that anyway, lol

Just FYI, in 1.7.10, Progressive Automation worked well with Agricraft. This may not be useful, but I wanted to mention it.

If you place and use the portal to the Deep Dark, and then move the portal in the Overworld, does that mess it up?

It moves the location of the portal in the deep dark but the deep dark doesn't change. If you have a quarry or something there it doesn't change.

Thanks, just wondering if I would need to dig down again, or if it would connect to the first one.. oh well :) I want to move it so I don't end up on top of the hill that's near it when I come back.... /sigh
