I got 2 ;)

1) why are my lasers on assembly, red with biogas engines and biofuel?

2) how do I make my matter fab faster? Currently I have 4 mfsu linking to a single glass fibre going into the fab

Cheers!!

1 )Try using energy conduits and a redpower cube. Not enough power to run in the blue by the sounds of it.
2) Put Scrap in the bottom of the mass fab, while it has power.

I've got scrap in there, forgot to mention. More thinking like is is possible to increase the speed of the machine with scrap

How quick dos it chew through a stack of 64? Mines done in like less than a minute. If your looking to go super fast I would say its governed to a certain speed. So unless you mess with configs Id say thats as fast as it will go.

@ xSINZx, he's talking about the matter fabricator (from GregTech), not the mass fabricator. The matter fab won't even run without scrap at all, and even with it, the energy consumption profile is completely different. On default settings you need 100 times the energy per scrap consumed than the basic mass fab.

@ Schpoon, The only way to improve the speed of the matter fab is to feed it with more energy. With 4 MFSUs sending to it, you have 512 x 4 = 2048 EU/t input. This should result in one piece of UU-Matter roughly every 6 minutes 47 seconds, provided you can keep that kind of input up at all times. If you had twice as much input, it would run twice as fast.

Basically, the only hope you have is spamming HV/ultimate solars. That's why I consider the default setting counterproductive (instead of nerfing solar-based UU-matter spam, it encourages it). In my worlds, I lower the matter fab's energy draw from 16.6 million down to 2 million, while halving the output of all solars and slightly upping the output of nuclear reactors. Feels much more sensible that way.

Really? Mine takes forever to go through a stack... So I'm assuming something is wrong. What setup do you guys have? (Anyone with solar)? Like I mentioned I have my solar > 4x mfsu > one glass fibre line into matter fab

What's the point of having 4 MSFU's if you don't provide more power than the fab uses?

He probably wanted buffer storage for when there isn't any scrap available...

Except that the matter fab eats scrap so slowly that even manual mining will leave your recyclers backlogged ;)

Q. what does a steam turbine and boiler do when a connected EU storage device such as an MFSU is full? Do they both continue to run and waste the power or do they shut down/buffer it?

Doh.. my bad.

Sorry Schpoon, Im DW20 pack no Gregtech? Havent seen a Matter Fab thought you were on about the Mass Fab....

Still learning.:)

The turbine disengages and idles, preserving the rotor and not consuming any steam; but the boiler will keep running. A boiler will always keep running, regardless of how much steam you use. The only way to get a boiler to stop producing steam is stopping the fuel input and letting it cooldown below 100°C.

I don't think that it encourages spamming of ultimate solars, because if you make iridium for ultimate solar from UU-matter it takes about 9 real life days of working solar panel (ignoring mc day/night cycle) to pay of. You are a lot better off with nuclear reactors or steam turbines.

What fuel ar your biogas engine burning and in where do you burn your biofuel? (biogas engines can for example burn biomass, but no biofuel)
How are your lasers connected to your engines?
Lasers can use up to 4 MJ/t, biogas engines burning biomass as well as combustion engines burning biofuel both produce 5 MJ/t. If you have conduits connecting to the lasers (or the worse alternative, buildcrafts conductive pipes), this should work fine, if the input ~matches the output. If your engine pumps directly into the laser, you will have a big internal buildup of power in the engine, because the laser can only accept up to 4 MJ in one go. Remember that an engine delivers its stored up engine only when the moving part hits its maximum extension. Conduits or wooden pipes can accept the big number and will then deliver their storage smoothed out over several ticks.

Centrifuge the combs (forestry centrifuge), put 4 dust in an implosion compressor, take the industrial diamond and make them into a diamond block, and smelt that down to regular diamonds

Are quarries and refineries linearly efficient per MJ? A quarry with 24 MJ is half as fast as a quarry with 48? and same for refineries.
