It's very grindy until you get your first activator, then you can leave it munching away while you do stuff. Currently on 4 activators on a 3 sieve system (2 on gravel, 1 on sand, 1 on dust), and in the time it took me to build multiple smelteries to process all the materials, I've got enough emeralds to keep expanding. Not sure yet if I need to expand the sieves beyond the 3. Feels like it's producing more resources then I could possibly ever use (and I'm aware there are quests for gathering stacks of ingot blocks).

You know, there is one thing I miss from Buildcraft and Industrialcraft. I miss massive rooms of automation. Sure I can do it here, but the process was always so much more complex and rewarding back in the day. Oh and I miss the variety of tubes.I like the look of sandstone tubes.

Anyway, I need help with something. I can't get tesseracts to transmit Items. It works fine for energy and fluids, but no matter how I set it up, it refuses to transfer items. Any tips or help?

Make sure the itemducts/fluiducts coming out of the tesseract are NOT set to output mode. Leave them in "neutral" mode.

I've tried that. But from what I can see, itemducts don't have a neutral mode. They are either blue(Feeds into inventories.) or red(Draws from inventories.) Where as fluiducts have a neutral setting. And I have no issues with fluids. They work perfectly fine. Energy works just fine. I just can't get items flowing. I've tried hoppers, vacuum hoppers, itemducts, direct MFR machine output slots, and hopper/Barrels.

Have you tried a chest? Tesseracts should auto-output, so if it's not appearing in an attached chest, then it's not actually being sent properly, and you need to look at the other end.

Getting a bit bogged down in the grinding somewhat. Been playing 2 man co-op and we now have a smeltery, enough crops to produce dirt en masse, cobble gens, lava production (via crucibles on lava) and are basically set. But in order to progress further, every task seems to involve significant luck with the RNG. I wanted to start some mycellium and get witch water for ender pearls, but had no luck sifting. An autonomous activator requires emeralds, also very much luck based. Even basic redstone is annoying to get.

We feel like we've hit a wall, any advice?

Sift lots and lots of gravel. Get the emeralds and diamonds needed to build an autonomous activator. Sometimes you can get everything you need in 1 stack of gravel, other times it may take 5 or more. As already recommended, get the first AA and place it on the sifter and get that automated. If you don't have the ender pearl needed for a vacuum hopper to collect the drops, you can use a water flow over the top of the sifter that feeds to a hopper and then dump the contents into a chest. That will let you just load up the AA with items to sift, and come back later for the results.

I set up a system using two magmatic engines powering 6 pulverizers. I had a cobble gen feeding 3 of the pulverizers. The pulverizers were set up with 1 of them making gravel, 2 of them making sand, and 3 of them making dust. I just fed the output to a set of barrels, then attached a trash can to the end of the line. If the barrels filled up, the system would keep working. This was the very first system I got set up after my lava production. It let me create all the sifting the materials automatically. two magmatics can keep all 6 pulverizers running continually.

3 AAs on a sifter should match the output speed of a pulverizer. Keep building AAs as you can until you have 9 AAs and 3 sifters. This will let you sift gravel, sand and dust continually, and should help get the rare drops. The sand sifter can be repurposed to sift smooth stone, dirt, or soul sand once you have some of the rare drops from the regular sand. You will likely still be short diamond and redstone for a while until you get into other generation methods.

So, I've been looking through the change list.

Version 2.1.8

(snip)

  • Mariculture Gas is now obtained by melting Limestone in an Ex Nihilo crucible

Does this unlock anything of note?

Wait, wait, what?

  • Blood Magic
    • Added Nether Iridium, Nether Redstone and Cobalt Ore to Diamond Meteors

Course, that's rather risky but... what?

The gas allows for legit Mariculture plastic, which allows for the lenses needed in the "scuba" mask, also for making the neon lights with the Neon Tetra fishes. Given the lack of impact on game play by doing so, I had just cheated in a pile of plastic for my neon sign needs. Won't use them for the scuba suit though, or will replace them with legit.

Meteor allows for an ender quarry without going to the nether, and I guess an easier source of redstone/cobalt?

Version 2.1.8

  • Removed Recipe for End Portal

So, how do we get there now, or don't we anymore?

To this I say

  • Thermal Expansion's Pyrotheum and Cryotheum now can be used as Crucible heat sources
Finally. Though cryo as a heat source, amuses me...

  • Mariculture Gas is now obtained by melting Limestone in an Ex Nihilo crucible

  • 3x3x3 High Oven max temperature is now 2,000c

This will remove that question from folks at least....

With the end portal you can get a spawn enderdragon egg as a choice reward or reward bag you kill it and it creates the end portal that you can go through

The cryotheum is so cold, it burns... o_O

The 3x3x3 oven temp now allows you to use the smallest size oven as a steam generator as it requires 1300 degrees in order to produce steam. This required a 3x3x4 oven before, but now can be done with the smallest size oven. Also updated, is the max temperature of the high oven is now only 4500 degrees (down from 6000). I supposed this slows down the melting speed a bit on the high end, and may impact mod interaction with high-temperature ovens as maybe some high end materials can no longer be melted in it. I haven't run into this in AgS though.

It's so cold it burns eh? Sounds like my sarcasm.... heh

Actually jaded mentioned that this was because the nei integration was now included as part of the ex Nihilo mod and no longer required the extra mod for the nei info.

Would explain why when I have it enabled, I have two sets of NEI support for it, but it doesn't explain when when I turn it off I get zero...
...Maybe another test is in order...

Is it just me or is there a TON of Iridium in the Meteors?
As long as you have no compunctions about Bloodmagic, its rather easy to finish that one quest that apparently gave many people so much problems.

For that matter, a very important Gendustry item has two recipes, one as expensives as it ought to be, and one from a apple and a piece of cobblestone.

Questions:
What is a Meteor and how do I get/find them.
My oven will now not smelt any of the ores other than dust ore, and my max temp (8-high furnace) is 6k. Is there a way to automate the hammering of ore gravel into ore sand, and ore sand into ore dust?

Well, a Meteor is a big-ass space rock, and in AgS, you typically have to summon them. Blood Magic is your only option for this, by the way.
As for hammering stuff, yeah, it's possible. In fact, there even is support from machines on non-ore bits. If that's not your style, a Autonomous Activator is a good pretty much your only choice, unless you are knee deep in Thaumcraft and/or don't feel the price for them is right. Those things can also, if it's enabled in the Ex Nihilio configs(yes, it can be disabled, and I'm pretty sure it's disabled by default), can also be used to sift stuff.

Hodor!

(Sorry, but I just had to say that^^)

Now for something serious: I'd like to sort my Apiaries/Bees somehow. Is there a complete list of branches somewhere or an overview? I found one on the FTB wikia, but I#m not sure if it is a complete list since I cant find Purple or Blue Bees on it.
