My current mana gen setup is a 5x5 square in the ocean with hydroangeas at the corners and an alternating line of mana spreaders and mana pools in the center. Once the mana gets to the surface, I move it with recessive and dominant sparks (and the occasional mana spreader to a couple pools I don't use often enough to warrant sparks). In theory, it could be upgraded to really churn out the mana, but for my needs it's more than good enough.

All things from project red can be done with vanilla redstone, and we even have some mods giving extra redstone options, even if its not the same with how compact it is. And I'm trying to figure out how to get a certain item to drop at a certain time and keep the order going indefinitely. Want that wool flower. :D

Also a lot of people don't understand how BC 6 works, particularly the clock and fader gate expansions. Just yesterday I automated the creation of mutandis and mutandis extremis using the witch's cauldron and it took about 5 blocks, not including the golem that chucks the components into the cauldron. Most of my redstone is actually done using structure pipes and pipe wires - added bonus is that you can put facades on them which you can just shift-click with an open hand to remove.

I spent probably about three hours yesterday automating the creation of silverwood saplings. I can pretty much do everything but gathering the emberflame moss without being there. Oh well, busting out the shears for 5 minutes of work isn't a bad trade off for the dozens of silverwood trees dotting my base (Proof is in the picture!)

Yes in most cases, but in more not so much. Yes most of the gates can be done in vanilla if your wanting to dedicate SEVERAL chunks to mimic each one of the gates.lol Also even if it was a matter of just having the red alloy wire it would be a huge difference. It doesn't really matter I forgot I installed EnderIO and it has a decent redstone conduit.

I wish you was making tutorial videos on that:) I will admit that I know little about what was added to BC from tekkit days. This issue is there is little videos/spotlights on the new things in BC if any at all. Great looking build thou:)

I used something similar to power my Alfheim portal. I didn't know how much mana it took to keep it open, so I did this:
My portal above ground...

AAAAND what it looks like below ground...
fYB0ci0.png

That's actually 40 hydroangeas spread across "two stacks". Each stack is 6 wide, 5 deep and 5 tall with a mana spreader centered in the top layer pointing directly up at a mana pool. Before the Botania updates that massively jacked up the mana generation of all of the flowers, this thing was filling a mana pool in a few minutes, now it generates stupid excess mana. I had no idea how much mana you needed to keep the portal open since the only tutorial i saw had this guy with a dual stack of thermalilies on each side feeding into 4 spreaders.

Honestly, the mana gen in Botania is way too easy. If you think about it, with a bit of shovel work, you can fit something like 160 hydroangeas into a single minecraft 16x16 chunk and only have it stacked 5 tall. I believe mana spreader range is something like 6 tiles, so you could probably fit nearly 200 or so into that volume. It's not that insane once you realize it's possible to automate the creation of hydroangeas

Oh and before I forget - Is there any way at all to get apatite ore legitimately without cheating it in?

I was going to originally breed Apatite bees (I'm like two steps away from them right now), but then I realized you need to breed them on an ore chunk.

I really want to use Forestry multi-farms for my arboretums. As much as I love my derpy golem hijinks, I'd rather the farm.

I asked about it before and TPL said that the recipe to make the fertilizer with saltpeter(i think? i forget which one it is) was good enough for him.

I found a post that might help you with your wool flower on my own journey to get more answers. http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/show-off-your-botania-mana-generation.66223/

It's the 8th post down.

Would someone please help me with this, when i try and launch regrowth it pauses for a few seconds then the whole of FTB closes, i've tried updating java and FTB and i even made sure my vanilla minecraft was up to date, and the same thing keeps happening, any advice would be welcome, thank you

Now here's the hard part. I like my mana gen to be out in the open. Gotta do this without so much visible redstone and, hopefully, as compact as possible. :p

unfortunately compact and less redstone is imposable in this pack.lol That's not a bad thing, but it does make me wish there was things like red alloy wire that were standalone mods without everything else. Good luck on your project:) I have decided to go with a chicken farm and Gourmaryllis for mana gen.

Well, automagy's Red Crystals are really neat looking, you could use those to make some designs while keeping the usefulness of redstone.

What Rakankrad said ^. I'm having a great time with the redcrystal from Automagy, though unfortunately for all you "I restart with every update" players, most/all? of its usefulness is beyond the Thaumcraft Gate.

Maybe there is a corrupt file when you downloaded the pack, why not try a new install of the pack and see what happens.

On the subject of redcrystal, do you have a decent setup to automate endoflames? I made a good enough one for right now, but I end up with a hole in the ground that I'd like to avoid. This is the basic one I have atm (it's not hooked up to a bspace yet, I want to see if I can fix the whole hole in the ground part first.) http://imgur.com/CVCyrD9

So I'm still playing on .65 and I just did a ton of work to get an Alchemy Catalyst for my mana pool JUST so I could get slimeballs. But when I throw a cactus in nothing happens. Was this a bug in .65? Is the recipe disabled on purpose? Anyone?

edit; is this because the cactus you get from agri has metadata?

I didn't get that issue when I played in .65.. That's really weird. I made slimeballs with the catalyst in .65

I need help with what this is. the mob semi-transparent when close to the floating black thing but darkens in colour as it gets further away. It chased me to my island but seemed to turn back when it was too far from the floaty thing, getting lighter as it travelled away. I can't find anything on the mob or the structure so can I get some help please?
