As said, the Heat generator will burn through Lava... BUT... it burns through it very fast, I found them to be more useful (for a time) as passive generators surrounded on 5 sides with standing lava... a bank of 10 of them was perfect to get me through my tech up to the Bio-Generators.

Exception: The Freaking Lasers... needed to make a biomass system to power those puppies... (this was where I tried to use the -active- Heat generator to supplement power, not happy with results and unplugged it)

Railcraft Liquid boilers cant run on lava, but solid fuel boilers can run on buckets.

Pretty much every possible time at night, it is night everytime though.
-Multiple people have tried
-goblet in the hotbar, in the inv, next to the boline, on the left and right sides of the hotbar.
-chicken on the skull, around the skull ( I know we read that the chicken and have seen that the chicken needs to be on the top, but at this point we are grasping at straws)
That's really strange. I know from this video (from chilm's Surviving with Witchery series, so not Regrowth) that it looks like the chicken does need to be standing on the skull, and chilm does have the string and redstone set up as shown on the witchery site, so it's obviously possible. Without seeing a video of the attempt I really don't know what could be wrong.

There's a lot of talk about mana setups, so i thought i'd share mine. i made a creative world and went through a lot of builds before coming to this.

There's two images in that link, one from each side. if you want/need more pictures just ask.

The hovering hourglass are timed to 7 seconds each, they're burning "magical food", which normally give 6 hunger (12 points), which is the best/easiest food to make the the game. Each elven mana spreader has a Potency mana lense on it. Obviously these are Gourmaryllis flowers. The Spark at my focus pool has a Recessive augment so it spreads to ALL the other pools, I also have one set to Dispersive to charge my mana items when i'm near. All other sparks are for making TerraSteel on the platform.

The timing, spacing, and food item here are important. If you change anything, you need to figure out new timing. 7 seconds works only because I have Potency, 1 space between spreader and pool, and am using that exact food.

I am only using 5 flowers and spreaders. This is because when I started things I wasn't yet using sparks, so I had to manually go in and put the mana on tablets. now that the sparks are getting the mana out for me, I could easily expand it to 8 spreaders/flowers, but I have no need for that much mana just yet.

unless you are going to power your base with the mana fluxfield, you probably never will need more mana than that. i am using just one gourmaryllis with baked potatoes and that is already sufficient

I made this setup when I was making a lot of terrasteel, and upgrading the terra shatterer. it's pretty much idle now, but ready if I ever need more.

So I was exploring the bottom of the ocean and I came across this hole in the bottom that leads to this a small like cave and in the cave is what i can only describe as like black water with a starfield in it or something... Anyone have any idea what this is or is it just a visual glitch...

Oh and the starfield (for lack of a better term) is moving... like its being pulled towards a central point or something...

That's Phase liquid from AcademyCraft. You can't pick it up with a bucket, you need the special phase capsules to collect it.

i'm trying to get some knowledge fragment for the sinister node in a jar (sinister lodestar), i understand that i can get some through the think tank. but i am unable to unlock the research for it. i have already the brain in a jar... and i dont find the purified brains..
any ideas how to unlock the Think Tank?
any other way to get the knowledge fragments (no beeez pleez ;) )

So, am i borked? I noticed to late that regrowth has no backup system - i was asuming it was backuping quietly in the background.

Hmph. I guess i AM borked then. Such a nice modpack, failing at an such simple feature.

Sorry I didn't have time to look at the error report yesterday. We need more information to be able to help you. Were you playing single player, multiplayer? is it your own server?

That error doesn't appear to have any map corruption, it looks like something a reinstall would fix, but you have to be careful to preserve your world.

I don't think you're in trouble yet, but we need more information. Nothing in that error report shows us exactly why it crashed, which may mean you just need to reinstall java. When your computer crashes, any number of things can be corrupted, from software, to drivers, to 3rd party lib's, etc etc.

You may not be completely borked. It looks like the HQM data got corrupted by the freeze/crash. In your Minecraft/saves/{yourworldname} folder, there is a folder called HardcoreQuesting. It contains 2 files called players.dat and players.dat-backup. You may be able to delete players.dat and copy players.dat.backup to players.dat and recover that way. Or you may have to delete both files and use HQM edit to restore your quests. The second post on this thread has instructions on how to do that.

There is also a file (I don't remember exactly where it is) called level.dat and its companion, level.dat-old. I had some luck recovering from one crash by replacing the .dat with the .dat-old. YMMV.

I am a hardware tech, not good at spelunking through code at all, at all. If replacing the players file did not work, then the only other thing I can suggest is delete both of them and OP the quest book back to where it was using the HQM edit process.

I know it is frustrating when that much work goes away, even though it is just a game. I usually have a short session with my therapist, Dr. Single Malt. Not a cure (it's useless trying to drown a trouble that can swim), but it softens the blow.

i'm trying to get some knowledge fragment for the sinister node in a jar (sinister lodestar), i understand that i can get some through the think tank. but i am unable to unlock the research for it. i have already the brain in a jar... and i dont find the purified brains..
any ideas how to unlock the Think Tank?
any other way to get the knowledge fragments (no beeez pleez ;) )

Anyone? thanks!

You might be able to get some with the Loonium. The other two routes I know involve villagers: If you can get a Thaumaturge Villager (purple robe and skullcap), then they will sometimes trade for knowledge fragments.


If you happen to get an Apiarist villager (I know you said no bees, but this will honestly have you swimming in knowledge fragments), and they have a Monastic Bee trade, go for it. Monastic + Arcane gets you 'Pupil' bees. Automate that puppy, and you'll have Knowledge Fragments for days. I was able to get to Arcane bees without doing any serious biome changes - I had an Ocean and a Magical Forest (from Silverwood). The Monastic line likes it hot and dry, so you don't need fancy equipment for them.

EDIT: Discovered the path to Think tank here. First, research Magic Tallow. Then, in Alchemy, you should be able to research 'Flesh Purification'. That leads to 'Brain Purification' in Artifice, and finally the Think Tank (also in Artifice).

I'm trying to get the Primordial Pearl needed to summon villages, but before I spend time trying to get high end thaumaturgy, get all the forbidden magiks, then open the eye, go through and finish the bosses there.....

I thought I might ask if there's an easier way.
