How come I can't break the Mariculture Vat and the Crucible with an Iron Pickaxe? The Waila (?) Harvestability tool tip says the Vat requires Copper Pickaxe and Crucible requires Iron Pickaxe, and that's what I'm using. They won't break and drop as blocks, I waited almost a full minute of swinging the pickaxe.
I made a regular iron pickaxe, 3 ingots plus 2 sticks, if that's what you're talking about. I can't make TiC stuff yet except for the Flint Pickaxe which won't work. The tooltip turned green with a check mark, as if it's saying "yes, that Iron Pickaxe will break this block", but it doesn't break it.
I went to a backup copy so I didn't have to deal with breaking the blocks for right now, but I cannot figure out how this Crucible multiblock works at all. The only thing I could do was get lava into it, but it won't melt any blocks, not even cobblestone. The blocks just sit there in the GUI and nothing happens.
The FTB wiki says "It must be surrounded by heat sources to function, for example lava." What does that mean? Do I have to submerse this thing in a pool of lava for it to work? I just want to make Seared Bricks and move on to the TiC Smeltery instead, not sure I'm liking this Mariculture mod so far...

I'm pretty sure regular tools are disabled from breaking blocks in this pack. You still craft them, but they won't function. It's a option in the Tinker config, I believe.
Could someone point me in the direction to get this problem solved? It's been a day since I posted this originally, and I'm really looking forward to setting up a server for me and my friend to play.
Do you know how the Mariculture Crucible works?
Nevermind, I guess you don't put lava into it, apparently it runs on coal instead - solid fuels.

Same problem here, but I assumed it had to do with light levels. All my planting setups are outdoors, probably have to make an indoor setup to grow Mushrooms? So far I haven't needed any shrooms, so I just put it off until I need them.
Did you follow the manual's instructions exactly?And also it's not light levels needed for shrooms its mycelium which you have various ways to obtain. One way is a forestry moistener, that's what I'm planning to craft. You might need to craft something to power it too though...

Except I still cannot find an ocean for hundreds of blocks around my location. What am I going to do for that Oyster/Pearl quest? sigh Ah well, I'll figure it out I guess. A lot of wandering aimlessly (but at least I have a mapbook now).

i believe thats the garden core plant pot interface which you dont need to be using and garden soil isnt needed yet just tilled dirt
that is not a crash report, go to your mod folder and it should be labeled crash report
also its fairly easy to go underground and find a mushroom and combine it with your nature essence to get mycelium and then spread it to your other dirt

AFAIK there is no other way to get netherrack that early on. So yes, just head to the nether for what you need/want.
Depending on how far you are into Botania, I'd suggest the Soujourner's or Globetrotter's(need to beat a wither first for this one) Sash to find an ocean quickly.
