That is a possible solution, and I do like it better than just whitelisting. My main issue is that via permissions I was able to give some users the ability to promote from "guest" to "member" without having op. Changing guests from gamemode 2 to 0 would require op. I suppose one alternative...

I should have prefixed my comment with: I think you have done a fantastic job with what you were given. I know in my case there wasn't much point for me to be involved unless there is content and then when work picked up heavily any plans I had were quickly forgotten.

Server has been updated to FTB Monster 1.03 and map reset.

I have been having problems with mine too, very similar. Updating to 1.03 fixed them for me too.
