If you are using gregtech as intended you are limited to 4 overclockers a stack - 8 overclockers total since you will be using transformers and energy upgrades (of which I imagine is topped at 4 too, although I've never needed them)

I've seen him shoot blue blocks while in combat - so I wouldn't assume it's safe as long as there is always a player involved (I guess it just lagged and didn't recognize for a second or something)

With that in mind forcefields sound like the only reliable option.

Voxel stuff in the mindcrack path is mostly just minor aesthetic changes. I don't know which does what but I think it's things like being able to see peoples nameplates, items (nonblock ones) have 3d effects on the ground. I imagine the login screen is also a voxel mod

Obsidian works as I recall, as should titanium/iridium reinforced stone. If none of these work and you have gregtech he will be adding a new tungsten-reinforced iridium block soon that will supposedly be the ultimate in explosion resistant blocks.
