Mod that gives random item from its inventory?

I don't know of any mod with a mechanism like that, but here are some random ideas: A vanilla dispenser or dropper will output a random item from one of its 9 slots. This is limited to 9 items, but it is possible to combine more of them with some clever redstone. A IC2 scrap box will give a...

Bees in FTB are the worst addition ever?

I feel like Forestry get some unjust flak for what other mods are adding. Forestry has a lot of interesting bees, but probably none of the species you consider important or necessary in any way. Imperial and Industrial is in my opinion a good entry point. Past that you are probably dealing with...

    Vanilla MC 1.9 announced

The launch of a new version of Minecraft usually means that I will be playing vanilla for a few hundred hours before returning to modded again. We'll see though. I've already been playing a lot of vanilla 1.8.9 lately.

Bees in FTB are the worst addition ever?

The bee breeding mechanic has not changed since it was added. Any good guide you find should still be usefull. The differences you will find are related to mutations and the bee species hierachy. Species might have been added, moved or even removed. But for this I believe there are some good NEI...

    Immibis's Macroblocks

Do you have any interesting production processes or is it like other mods. Simple and boring crafting recipes that you will never need to actually automate. ;)

    Thermal Expansion power issues

All MJ powered machines will have some loss. I know some mod authors have found ways to prevent it, but such "hack" is not in use by Forestry or RailCraft.

    Forestry Multiblock Tree Farm

The farm will fill up all its 6 germling slots with saplings before it starts outputting them.

Eloraam is Working on Redpower! (Lies)

I honestly hope that Eloraam is working on something completely new instead of reviving RedPower. I never really used RedPower for anything. I had more than enough of fun fiddling with BuildCraft logic instead, but I have a great respect for what she was able to do. All the fuzz around RedPower...

    Tesseract problems

I don't quite understand why that kind of speed was needed. I've never really looked at the internal workings of the base pipe, but I would think that regardless of what kind of speed the item were given it would need more than one tick to pass through.

    Tesseract problems

A question related to the ItemDucts. I thought the Tesseracts would put resources into the ItemDucts and that it would ignore any speed limit the ItemDuct might have when the Duct is doing the actual work. With this logic I have been using normal ItemDucts to handle the flow of resources coming...

    Tesseract problems

Just want to add that a part of the problem here is probably that the pipes do not have any inventory that can be accessed by other mods. It is possible to put resources into a pipe, but not through any inventory related operation. It is for example not possible for a vanilla Hopper to put items...

    What is RF?

There was at one point some vague plans of making MJ power more distinctly pneumatic, but it never happened. Even BuildCraft has a few components you never would have powered with through pneumatic power and there were many other MJ mods (Thermal Expansion for example) that used it for all kind...

    What is RF?

I never claimed that you said anything. I simply pointed out that you make it sound like the RF API is the only API with any freedom to create new types of consumers and producers while the truth is that all power API support this. The RF power API is essentially an empty shell and if it hadn't...

    What is RF?

You make it sound like the BuildCraft Power Api prevents a mod author from inventing creative ways to produce and consume BuildCraft power. There is nothing in the BuildCraft power design that limits how a mod produce or consume power. Make a "big reactor" mod. Use MJ to power an Airplane. Add a...

Update on the Future of FTB Modpacks in 1.7

The Fluid Api is great. Different fluids have common properties. The abstraction lets us transport different fluids in the same pipes. Store them in the same tanks and containers. Very convenient for mod authors and it even have some effect on the players in the sense that it is easy for mod...

Update on the Future of FTB Modpacks in 1.7

This post is mostly a copy of something I posted on reddit 5 days ago: Different games and mods tries to put game play into different places. BuildCraft tries to make power into an element of concern not only in the choice of fuel, but also with production and distribution. By having loss in...

    1.5.2 Forestry

If you are talking about Conductive pipes, then those have been scrapped some time ago. Admittedly, Kinesis pipes probably looks like the old pipes, but they don't suck that much dick any more. You might of course still not be happy, but we can't please everyone.

    1.5.2 Forestry

They will use about 1 MJ/t each. Most MJ powered machines have a small "standby" cost. You can avoid it with some smart usage of BuildCraft logic gates to control power production.
