What's my best option to play 1.7.2 pack?

FTB Unstable is good, but 1.0.3 is very outdated. ATLauncher's Strawbery Vanilla is more up to date, but has too little mods, I have to add and config everything by hand there. Are there other options?

Chunk loader that consumes energy geometrically proportional to CPU load of it's chunks. So people on SMP optimise their builds to reduce server load.

    Feed the Beast vs Tekkit?

I recommend ATLauncher. Especially if you like to tinker with your modpacks, adding and removing things. If you prefer more polished ready-to use packs, FTB is probably the best.

Hovercar. Wheel cars would not work well with cubic terrain, but hovercars could.

I have read it as "inFerior design" and was expecting to see some really badly designed bases. Disappoindt.

Is SAG Mill the only way to process Forestry ores in Unstable pack?

There is "Unstable 1.7.2" FTB pack. Has a lot of stuff already - Forestry, Thaumcraft, TC, etc

How AUTO-MATED Can late game scenarios get?

Highly automated systems tend to bee FPS-munchers. So, answer to OP question is: "depends on your server CPU".

    extremely compact factory/farm facility

FTBLite2 has fertiliser. That can be "milked" from cows. And laser drill is a way of converting energy to minerals.

Can you make something like this based on FTBLite2? Maybe with laser drill?

How Many Storeys does Your Base Have?

Back to topic... In SMP I build vertically, to minimize chunkloading. Also, if IC jetpack or something similar is available, moving vertically is very fast. In SSP I just wall out a piece of land and live/work/build there, without bothering about floors of ceilings.

How Many Storeys does Your Base Have?

OpenBlock tanks are extremely cheap, once you get nether pumping going. RailCraft tanks can be better, but FTBLite2 does not have it.

How Many Storeys does Your Base Have?

Make a castle made of OpenBlocks tanks and fill it with lava. Looks great, and you can tap magma-using engines and machines right to the nearest wall. Not sure how it would affect CPU, though. And if it will be a problem to remove walls fast if needed.

Why slime does not appear when I pour pink slime liquid on the ground in FTBLite2? Difficulty is set to normal, liquid just flow and I can collect it back, but no slimes spawning:/

What type of player are you? - Discussion Thread

I'm an engineer. I like to optimize things, find optimal solution with limited resources and methods. Such as tree farm with filler-planted saplings, making scrap from mining well pipes, optimizing reactors... Old IC2 was a gold mine of this stuff. Too bad most mods these days make things too...

I can understand why lightweight modpack exclude AE. But why no Iron Chests...
