Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

You see, everything you're talking about is highly subjective. You see IC2 as obsolete because of the energy system and ore-doubling machines. You mention nothing of crops (the closest thing to that in common use would be bees. Agricraft is good, but not in common use at the moment), or of the...

Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

Precisely. It acts as the tutorial that pretty much all mods don't have (Thaumcraft is a possible exception, but it's still lacking direction to it's guidance).

Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

This is one of the reasons that I quite enjoy some of the well made HQM packs. Delving into a new mod, especially one that's fairly far down the release cycle, and spans across a number of mechanics is daunting, moreso when you get tot he point of one mechanic being dependant on another (i.e...

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

This looks fairly infrastructure heavy (especially if you've not gotten to the point of getting the AE presses yet), but what's the kind of output/second at each stage? This seems like it'd be well suited to the first few stages, then move onto crafters/cyclic assemblers when you get to about...

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

From what I can tell, it works for materials, but not for chemicals. For instance, you pump water into the tank, you get H and O, but you pump salt (chemical, decanted into fluid) and you get nothing. So drum full of carbon is useless, but a drum full of, for instance, a smeltry molten metal...

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

... I'm honestly not sure why I didn't think of that. I'm going to go and sit in a corner, wearing my dunces hat. Then I'm going to replace my normal barrel of pyrotheum with a bedrockium one so I can drain, then unload the nether sphere!

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

On the topic of the drums, is there anywhere that you can dump the contents to, or am I just going to open a floodgate out into the void and empty a bedrockium barrel of salt into it? The barrel I can use, but there's not a fluid void, and I don't think the trash can accepts fluids.

Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

My issue is that you're starting from the premise that everyone thinks like you (i.e. that there are mods that should be removed on the grounds of duplicated functionality), which is incorrect. Your initial "Should" question was valid, as it is asking whether people feel the same, but asking...

Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

See, I appreciate your point, but I don't agree with it. Variety is a good thing, and I'll often look into other mods just to see what the systems are like and how to put them together. You are more than welcome to remove mods if they rile you (as factorisation so obviously has), and I've done...

Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

So, out of interest, what exactly, are your requirements? If you're saying that if a mods mechanics are entirely duplicated in another mod (and presumably, doesn't have any installed add-ons that introduce otherwise unduplicated functionality), then I don't know of any mod that fits that...

Should some mods just stop being updated in packs?

Fundamentally, you are looking at this from the wrong angle. Mods updates aren't mandated by the player, they're done by the dev, and the player is able to use the results. There my be times when player input is listened to, but it's not required. A lot of mods are run because it's something...

    Kitchen-sink third-party pack without HQM?

As far as I can tell, there are 3 major themes to modpacks, which tend to govern the mods around them, and their general attitude: - Gregtech. After about 1.5.2, this seemed to make a schism, in that Gregtech isn't something that can simply be included in a modpack for completeness, there are...

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

My main question was whether there's any standard or dense ore in the Miner's Paradise, as the poor version does tend to grate after a while.

Not gotten to that point yet, but it's MCs default no-texture texture. What are the blocks in view? More Ztones?

I know that there's tin in the back right, and iron front left, ferrous middle left, I'm assuming that asking for help is classed as cheating? Guess it's back to spelunking again. At least I've got something that can OSK most mobs now.

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

Out of interest, what are people's typical sources of redstone? I seem to be constantly running out. Do I need to make do with rewards and the small amounts from the poor ores, is there a pocket of proper ore that I've not found yet, or is there somewhere else to get it?

[TE4] Are strongboxes not recursive now?

As someone that goes through the process often with my computer storage, I'd assume that it goes: 1. "Oh, I'll just empty my inventory into this strongbox until I get around to sorting it" 2. "I need to clear this room up, I'll take all these strongboxes and put them in one. That'll make it...

    [1.7.10] Material Energy^4

No, there is an actual issue with aluminium being made from the Au element, and not the Al one. At present, it seems that the only way to convert the Au element into actual gold is in block form (which is rather costly on the energy front).

I *think* its for show, but there might be a purpose. However, I think that it becomes coloured wool, rather than named wool when placed.

You only get one of the ender alloy conduits given to you (attached to the reactor), and I've not bothered to make any more. My bas has fairly modest power needs at present, and if I can divert the reactor to the higher-power aspects, I'll be much happier. Plus, I'm aware that there is a lot of...
