    A Journal of a Determined Soul (Infitech2 Let's Journal)

I mean, there's a bunch of little tricks you can use on top of the more mundane approaches. If you find a nickel vein, you're set. Nickel has tons of Cobalt, and cobalt is straight up awesome. If you want to mine a different ore but don't have the pick for it, there's an explosive called a...

They're pretty obvious from the water surface. I tend to just dive down and be pretty quick with a pickaxe and torch.

Ouch! That's a brutal impasse. Fwiw, there are those dark ocean nodes that often carry diamonds and emeralds in them.

Yeah, I mentioned it in the second post that your imgur links are borken. For the branch mining, I'm curious if you keep that up. Its traditional for IT2 players to engage in a very long and boring "core sampling" expedition, where they find a single vein, go 5 chunks east, dig down from the...

Excellent progress dude. Its interesting watching you overcome some of the traditional early-game hurdles with relative ease, and I'm just chalking it up to your general experience.

Is it obvious/intuitive that you can wash stacks of dirty dust at a time? Some ppl miss that.

Right on all counts. That quicksand idea is definitely novel to me. If iron weren't at a premium at that stage I'd say you could put hoppers everywhere for collection. That said, I believe there's an early method to blow entities around, so you could get away with a single hopper in all...

Schneekey, this is genuinely interesting, well-written and fun to read. Couple of thoughts, bearing in mind my intention is not to steer you towards any particular strategy (which would void at least one of the purposes of this whole journey) * Ores aren't biome dependent. I'm 99.4% sure...

    Continuum, What went wrong?

Naw, those particular shortcuts are really tiny and just rewards for exploration.

Fixed for clarity I think, since you were specifically responding to a comment about a mod.

Sweet! If you can tolerate the pack for more than a week given your lack of interest in GT, utter kudos. Your picture thumbnails appear to be busted btw. And I'll be happy to delete/bumpdown this post if you particularly wanted to second post for yourself.

    Continuum, What went wrong?

Now that's totally intelligent. I mean I don't know if I 100% agree per se because I know at least some things can be scaled up, but you're also not the first person I've heard mention a lack of clever workarounds or projects to mitigate the grind.

    Continuum, What went wrong?

Adjust your comments about "grindy but not hard" and I can contribute to an intelligent conversation on this. Super casual players : minecraft is hard Decent players : Grind != difficulty Expert players : Grind == difficulty if the challenge lies in leveraging the various mods to mitigate that...

    Thaumcraft 6 - can't progress in Eldritch

Yep that makes sense. Sadly, I'm way out of the loop so all I could offer was conjecture.

    Thaumcraft 6 - can't progress in Eldritch

Are you pretty sure its even possible to progress past that point? TC is still in fairly heavy development, and last I checked (month or two ago) there were still blockers in the eldritch progression.

On the other hand, I appreciated the way GWTG handled it professionally, w/o malice or teasing, which is why I liked his post :)

What cool little thing have you discovered today?

Unless the aqua crystal is the "default" crystal in the absence of some critical meta or nbt tag.

Ah cool, I totally misinterpreted you. Now, again, the spreader can be "pointed" kinda like a cannon at a target. Its hard to use but you can do it. Is that overly fiddly for your use case?

Hiya mathwiz I feel like I'm totally misinterpreting this or something, but the wand can be put into one of two modes. One of those modes is a "binding" mode that lets you click on a spreader, and then click on any other block. The spreader will target that block accordingly. Sorry if I'm...
