why do mod dev. make some things only for certiant versions?

Actually, for me *that* is one of the attractions of Minecraft. I do not want a duplication of real life. I want a game where there are funny and funky things. And besides, many mods add new stuff to Minecraft which are just as unrealistic. All magic mods are unrealistic by nature and most tech...

why do mod dev. make some things only for certiant versions?

Well I have played *and* enjoyed Vanilla Minecraft a long time (much longer then most other games I tried) so it can't be that bad really :-)

why do mod dev. make some things only for certiant versions?

Well I don't think there is anything wrong with vanilla minecraft being extended with stuff that can now only be found in mods. After all, the majority of players don't play with mods (either because they don't know how or because they don't care) and it is good for these people to have some new...

    Big Reactors

I think I understand what you mean now but I'm still a bit uncertain about how to actually place the rods for best results. Is it something like this (ascii art):

FTB Monster - What mods are doing this?

The last problem about the seeds can be either the problem with the railcraft hidden block (you can disable that in config) or else perhaps not enough light at that point?

[solved] Performance problem in linux and Twilight Forest

Well the weird thing is that I never had this problem in Windows. With the same computer, same mods, same version of MC, same texture pack. Anyway, I will start with almost no flags (besides memory) and I'll also try lowering memory somewhat (perhaps to 2.5 gigs or so) to see if that improves...

Best early game method of sorting?

I guess what many people mean with 'sorting' is basically organizing their storage so they can find stuff :-) For that AE is most likely one of the best solutions. With Logistics Pipes you can also do some good organization. Otherwise the easiest way is probably chests + signs :-)

    The Performance Thread

In my quest to solve a 'garbage collection freeze problem' that I'm having I'm studying the garbage collection flags. Here is what I found so far: UseConcMarkSweepGC: the concurrent collector, a garbage collection algorithm that attempts to do most of the garbage collection work in the...

[solved] Performance problem in linux and Twilight Forest

I googled a bit more and found these flags: I'm going to experiment with that. But it seems that in the flags I'm currently using there are actually some conflicting flags. Some of them select alternative GC methods and I guess you can only use one GC at a time :-/

    AE Molecular Assembler Chamber

I would also be careful with MAC's that go beyond chunk boundaries. There is a bug with AE which can (not always) cause MAC's to stop crafting even with enough materials present. This seems to happen more when the MAC is not in a single chunk.

    Big Reactors

Sorry can you explain that? What exactly do you mean by 'cardinally aligned'?

    Getting rid of water?

I just used the sponges from OpenBlocks and it worked perfectly. Thanks for all the suggestions!

    Big Reactors

I actually have a similar question but this time not assuming infinite resources :-) I currently have a passive cooled 7x7x7 reactor which produces about 16000 RF/tick. It uses liquid ender and it has 9 control rods (arranged in a cross). For now it is the most efficient design that I was able...

[solved] Performance problem in linux and Twilight Forest

I still haven't been able to fix this problem and I know now it isn't exclusive to Twilight Forest. TF just triggers it faster. It is also triggered faster when I open my world to LAN and let my son play with me. I googled a bit and found out that this can possibly be caused by the garbage...

    Blizz

I believe they spawn a lit more easily now in the latest 3.0.0.7 updates of TE but you may probably not have that version if you're using one of the FTB packs as that release is very recent.

    The Performance Thread

The flags I'm using right now are: I have really no clue about many of these and I'm not sure if these are really needed or sufficient.

    Rotarycraft/Reactorcraft Power Progression

The blast furnace doesn't need hsla steel. That can be made with regular bricks and redstone.

Mod Feedback [By Request] RotaryCraft Suggestions

A small aesthetic request from my side. I think the RotaryCraft pipes are all a bit bulky. Especially compared to other mods (but then I'm used to EnderIO pipes which are very tiny). I'm not saying you should make them tiny but in some cases the pipes seem bigger then the machine to which it is...

    The Performance Thread

That's a good idea. I will post mine when I get back home. I really would like to learn more about how to select the best flags for MineCraft as there is a lot of conflicting information on the internet.

    Industrial Craft2 Disable certain blocks?

Hmm, can't you simply talk to that guy and tell him not to blow things up? I mean... behave responsibly for example? Otherwise I don't know if you can disable the eplosions from a nucleair powerplant.
