i never understood why some mod developers make somethings for certiant versions and not for others, for example like enderIO has like TE type slots on each side that you can configure in 1.7 but not in 1.6.4

Like if you made it in one version why not add it to the older versions? Unless their is something that like the new versions have or dont have that the older ones dont or something me no no lol XP.

And if their's no prblem behind it than i really think they should put all their newer content into the older versions of MC i think people would respond to it very much so, i can say for one that i sure would XD.

Another example i just read is that the Dev. for Tconstruct isnt going to add the green heart containers to 1.6.4 just the newer updates, which is pretty upsetting to me XP lol.
I've been updating TC everytime an update comes out hopping their'd be a recipe for the greens but not yet, but hopefully he will add the greens to 1.6.4.

Basically, what im asking is, what is the benefit to making something for the newer versions and not the old ones? especially since their are so few modpacks that are even close to 1.7+ most, well aLOt of them are actually 1.6.4 so why not make it for the newer ones and the older ones???

Would just like to add i know nothing about making mods or java so their could be a very logical explanation for this lol and if you know that explanation please share it with me XP

The benefit is less unpaid work to do. Also if a new feature uses a new method/ API/ piece of code only in a new version of minecraft sometimes it's impossible to port.

Plus modders, like players like to use new shiny stuff too. They like to get started on the new stuff and not become obsolete.

How I wish those bastards at Mojang would stop updating Minecraft. Anyways, TC for 1.6.4 HAS added the Green Heart containers. Gives you 30 hearts, am I correct?

Updates are good.
Right now, they try to make sure that updates won't break mods. Thats why they delayed 1.8.
They want to make sure, that their api will not change.
If it does, then theres no reason for it.

That mechanic existed before in tic, thats technically not something new. Just change a few values in a lower tier one, remove the recipe, and you got the creative version.

Updates are good? That's a load of rubbish. 1.7.X was crap.
Their updates have already broken mods. That's a crap ton of 1.6.X mods down the drain right there.

I do not think that, at least part of, mojang likes mods.
Not only that, the minecraft updates are unrelated to mods, mojang continues on wether mods exist or not.

Dude, all id conflicts are wiped out in 1.7 . Technically you can install whatever you like, whitout id shifting.
1.8 will have world threading in it, whitch will remove lagg from being in more than one dimension at the same time.
WorldGen got way better whitout the need of installing Biomes'O Plenty or something.

They definietly like mods. Dinnerbone made a snapshot just for the slime block "mod".
@dalekslayer96 If they don't like them, then why pistons, ender chests, horses, and the just mentioned sticky slime blocks exist in the game?

It's called progression and I'd bet 90% of modders once moved to a newer version of MC don't want to go back and add anything in an older version. If I was a modder I know I wouldn't want to keep doing that.

The ID conflicts thing is the one thing that Mojang implemented in 1.7 that is decent. Everything else sucks. The new biomes? Ripping off Biomes O' Plenty and ExtrabiomesXL since 2013. Slime Blocks? Ripping off TiCo since 2014. And the worldgen STILL sucks because those "new" biomes are so flipping rare. Also, the only reason why Mojang added horses is because fanboys like you wanted MOAR CONTENT WITH NO MODS. They couldn't take all the spam from fanboys that wanted faster transport than pigs and fans that wanted horses specifically, so they just gave in. Same goes for stained glass.

Well I don't think there is anything wrong with vanilla minecraft being extended with stuff that can now only be found in mods. After all, the majority of players don't play with mods (either because they don't know how or because they don't care) and it is good for these people to have some new content. Also you should consider that it is really hard for Mojang to find new stuff to add to MineCraft that some mod hasn't already added :)

Just IMHO

Well I have played *and* enjoyed Vanilla Minecraft a long time (much longer then most other games I tried) so it can't be that bad really :)

Your honest opinion is unappreciated. Those Mojang fanboys should not be given anything new, because I can say that 90% of the people I know who play Minecraft agree that VANILLA MINECRAFT IS TERRIBLE. If those fanboys are so stupid they can't run something like the Feed the Beast launcher, they shouldn't even be on their computers.
Also, it's Minecraft, NOT MineCraft.

Actually, its a real pain to set up modded mc. Forge can ignore the mods you installed.
And thoose "vanilla fanboys" making sure that you have a game.
The biomes are far from being rare. They just not completly random. There are different areas on the map.
Biomes'O plenty eats performance.
Vanilla always show something new.

Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to calm down before a moderator gets involved.

I had to stop writing.

And if i get your second to last sentence right, then you say that if I can't run ftb monster then i should not play mc at all? Yes, since my video card got busted, i can't run the larger packs, and even light has a slight lagg when generating new chunks.I can't go too far from the spawnchunk.
I should not play mc? I mostly do redstone tests, and i can tell you that theres a lots of mods making redstone bad. Vanilla mechanisms are all really simple, but allowing you to make complicated stuff.
1.8 goes fine with very little lagg, and thats a snapshot.

Vanilla is good. If they put in any kind of block breaker block(i know the wither, but thats too dangerous right now), then i will stop using mods for a while.:D

Go ahead. Get one involved. As far as I'm concerned I have the right to state whatever I want to state.[DOUBLEPOST=1401447630][/DOUBLEPOST]

I never said you HAD to run FTB Monster, did I? There's a hundred and one modpacks out there, hell, you can even create your own one like I did.
Name me one mod that makes Redstone bad. Mods downloaded less than 500 times may not be included.
And then Mojang adds a ton of crap in the actual 1.8 update and BOOM, lag attack. Happened before, and can happen again.
Vanilla is good? Sorry for cursing here, but seriously. My ass. I'd rather be running Fission/Fusion Reactors than digging for some random piece of blue crap.
