honestly the change of the food and health is not really needed, it was just fine in the older versions
when on a server and put into the position of updating removes mods and oregen you either keep going with what you are at or you start over again, but the problem i see is that as the versions have changed the pack has gotten easier, nothing like it was to start with.
At the risk of becoming part of this inane conversation, I hardly think the pack got easier.... If I remember correctly, health from food is also re-nerfed in the dev build atm.

I went creative mode In a new world and set up an ender quarry, it finished 2 chunks and outputted only 1 vulcanite ore and no sanguinite... maybe it is a problem :\

not all ores will spawn in ever chunk, check the metallurgy configs, the line that says chance is a percentage of appearing in a single chunk, also since most of the ores do seem to spawn up to 128 height from what i see at a quick glance that does mean they could be any where up to the bedrock ceiling of the nether since you seem to be look for nether ores.[DOUBLEPOST=1401009001][/DOUBLEPOST]

it actually has gotten much easier, earlier some of the mobs were nearly unkillable, and if you had a group of them then you were simply unable to do much of anything crops grew so slow it was worthless to even do much with them and scavenging food was the only option. granted the tps was always tanked due to the massive amount of mobs healing each other and trying to find a way to get to you and end you. also there was no dynamic lighting so you had to place lights which broke when zombies walked close in any regard and attracted more mobs just by having the light visible in any way. it was a fun happy death pack.

Health regen was originally 33% of the hunger your food restored.
In 1.0.6 it was changed to 50% along with a few other tweaks:
  • Hunger Overhaul
    • Halved the replenishments of other mod's foods (now 1/8th, was 1/4th)
    • Changed amount of health restored by food to 1/2th of value instead of 1/3rd
    • Changed Hunger difficulty modifier to 2
    • Changed the hunger value set after respawning for peaceful/easy to 10 (50%)
I wasn't aware that eating berries actually restores health in the current version, but I heard that it's going back to 33% in 1.1. We'll see how it ends up soon (tomorrow?), but I think the whole regaining health from blood and berries (but not bones... hehe) is about to be over.[DOUBLEPOST=1401033427][/DOUBLEPOST]

There is a problem with nether ores. Particularly Vulcanite and Sanguinite. I did some MCEdit analysis a few pages back and found about 0.5 ore per chunk. That's entire chunks from top to bottom.

The good news is the ore gen is getting changed in 1.1 so look for something much better after the update!

Glad to see blood as food going away. It had an odd warping effect on the game. People ignored regular food to make mob traps and spawners to feed smelters. It ignores all the cool stuff from Pam's and a major part of the early game. Lack of food and torches really cuts down on the mining and exploration and as you get a steady food supply established it feels like an accomplishment.

Has anyone else had success using water elevators as effective entrances/exists to skyblock type bases? I have not had any mobs swim up the waterfall yet.

Looks like an invader zombie from Hostile worlds is doing something bad to your game:

I would:
a) Make a backup of the world
b) Edit the modpack to remove hostile worlds temporarily
c) Load the world without hostile worlds. This should remove all invaders and portals.
d) Re-enable hostile worlds and see if you're ok now

It will remove any active portals and all invaders, but it might get you past the crash.[DOUBLEPOST=1401057184][/DOUBLEPOST]

Interesting. Mobs always try to swim up when they're in water, so surprised they aren't getting up your waterfall! But if it works, it's a cool solution. :)

I think my world is lost.
Did make a backup, edited the modpack, started the game without "HostileWorlds".
But my last saved game was not showing in the list.
Strange...
Did reinstall the backup, reactivated "HostileWorlds", still not working.
All other saved games show in the list except my last game.

Could it be my world is corrupted and 'll not show in the list ?

Found a redwood. Nerdpoled up onto it and built a platform. Managed to get some water on the trunk to protect it from creepersplosions and keep zombies from zombie-stacking their way up to get me. Made a couple more platforms, extended the starting one, and started a farm.

And then a meteor hits the canopy, and sets the whole damn thing on fire. o_O


God this pack is awesome! :D

Ha, you too! I had the same fun. Dez and I built our farms on top of the tree, put a bit of stuff in the center with a little roof. Meteor hits dead center, half in the roof on either side. Disaster averted...until the next one hit a bit to the side and halfway down. Tree on fire, cinders spawning all over. Ended up replacing the whole treetrunk with cobble eventually.
