I should also say that I play play on a server that is running 24/7 to take care of the time factor.
It's far more basic issue than that. There's not really a problem with Flint and Steel taking steel, or a blast furnace, or anything else, if you're intending for there to be other ways to open a nether portal /anyway/. Greg's talked repeatedly about simpler, one-use, disposable firestarters, and it's not like it's hard to start a Nether portal using lava instead of flint anyway. But the Flint and Steel change was easy, so it was pushed before the disposable firestarters were anywhere near the horizon.
Eh... the old farm styles were incredibly bleh. The issue with the new farms is more that they don't have much in the way of smaller options -- even the smallest take nearly a stack of copper and tin, and simultaneously presents a good deal more coverage than a lot of folk really need.
Do you mean how they convert them into their forestry treebreeding equivalent? Is that a severe issue?

looks same to me
Santa, you obviously don't list time in the same context as a lot of people in terms of it being a limited resource. I think that's why you continue to ignore the very elegant replies which directly address the OP. There's no need for me to rehash what has already been stated. Time is not an issue for you.
You also seem to have a linear perspective on a non-linear game. This too has been addressed but it doesn't compute for you so you don't respond. You just aren't in a place to understand.
I didn't really talk about it because it is obvious. I am not talking (that much) about life, more about the resources in the game.
I think what people are missing is that for most of us, if we want to spend 12 hours playing Minecraft, it will take up half our day. But Santa is someone who can deliver presents to every house in the entire worlds in just one night. So he doesn't have the same perspective of the value of real-life time as we do.
I'm fairly sure your getting your Santas mixed up. I belive that the Satanic Santa delivers something other then presents.

By the way Chocorate, the galgadorian drill is, I think, justifiably expensive... have you seen the speed of it?!? It mines 1 block per tick, without leaving giant holes everywhere, and with a proper setup needs no input after the initial setup. Hell, in the latest version of SC2 you can enchant cart tools (they don't last forever, but they still last a loooooooooooooong time).
How so?
Portal gun was never meant to be a survival mod. It was made for adventure maps. The cost and ease to make one was reflected in that. How so?

You can still find it as loot.I hate the cost, but I do agree that it should be a bit more expensive. (I hate it when authors make things require ender eyes or other mob drops. The item doesn't help me kill mobs, it isn't a mod spawner, and it doesn't do anything related to mobs, why make it so i can't get it if I'm on peaceful..)

Also, peaceful table from extra utilities. And then the peaceful nether star recipe. Can someone remind me whether an uncrafting table is obtainable in peaceful mode? If it is, then with Twilight Forest and gravguns, you can obtain netherstars without mobs.
While I do understand your (frustration?) with this, if it were me, if I was playing on peaceful, I would have no problem turning on creative mode to get mob drops.
Making recipes harder for me is like changing the recipe of the crafting bench to use 9 planks instead of 4, is the exact same stupid thing, but requires you to punch 2 more logs before you get it.
TL;DR: Waste of time.
i bet there would be "crafting table crafter", that has a 3x3 grid, but would only be able to craft crafting tables. wait... there was something similar...Funny story, if the crafting table needed 9 planks to create, then you'd never be able to create it because the crafting grid won't fit anything more than 4.
