Sad new about Vazkii, tho not surprising since the signs of depression were kinda clear lately. But still sad to see a mod author suffering a breakdown.
When someone says everything he do is crap and start going too negative, something is wrong with the person. But oh well...
Maybe you're right and i'm overthinking things, still sad to see such a nice mod go, it really helped me a lot on many of my automation setups.
Well dwmiller has already picked it up, with his first actions with it were to remove the transvector interface and dislocator (so people will use remote IO instead - annoys me greatly) as well as removing the osmotic enchanter and the entire enchanting tab from the thaumonomiconAs a developer myself, I perfectly understood how Vazkii feel between shiny new toys (Botania) and grand big project turned into maintenance mode. And all mod devs have the urges to create something original, a mod of his/her own.
And don't worried about TT, there are already many good devs offered to pick it up.
The cool thing about open source ... if one person decides to do that then someone else can fork it. I can guarantee you I know which will be more popular.
Like how it was, you mean? You missed a hell of a shitstorm over on the MCF when someone who doesn't need to be named(mostly because I can't spell their username) took up the torch and removed two things. Also admitted they didn't really know what direction they wanted to take the mod, which does not mean they didn't have ideas on what they wanted to add.it's sad to see Vazkii drop Thaumic Tinkerer, but it's completely understandable.
though I do wish he'd have left the project in the hands of someone who plans on continueing the path of Thaumic Tinkerer instead of releasing it to the public like this, as Thaumic Tinkerer is awesome as it is right now and I wouldn't really like to see alot of things being changed like that

Oh hey, previous posts in the thread about this.
One of the things wasn't super bad to remove, but the Transvector stuff was useful too. Useful suggestions were being throw around to boot. Shame he stopped so soon. Would have been nice to see what he could have added.
Even so, removing features as soon as you pick up someone's work is kind of... questionable.
I just hope the other two people interested in working on this do a good job, or at least something that isn't as weird as that. Vazkii did really damn well even though he's not too proud of it, so it's sad to see him let it go.
On to the new shiny toy I guess!
Aside from removing those items as his first move, he also removed the enchanting tab. So it wasn't all bad. But there was one version.it kind of gave me the feeling that that person only took up the project to get some extra fame for their own mods, but seeing as I do not know that person personally, nor do I know what that person is planning on doing with Thaumic Tinkerer, it's all just guessing work from me. I'm also trying to stay a bit away from this subject as it can introduce a ****storm on this forum aswell...
EDIT: well, I did some reading around about dmillerw and Thaumic Tinkerer. it seems he was planning on doing 2 versions of Thaumic Tinkerer, a legacy version that is like the original Thaumic Tinkerer, and his own spin-off with new items and such
he opened a topic on MCF for his Thaumic Tinkerer, but it's deleted already, so I don't know what he had done so far. but if he really removed the enchanting table and the trans interfaces from the legacy version he was talking about... then that wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do. if he removed the 2 items from his own spin-off, then it's completely understandable. sadly, as I mentioned, the topic is already deleted so I don't know everything that has happened, but to me it looks like he had good intentions, but didn't convey his plans well enough to the community. atleast that's my opinion on this
sadly, with another mod being dropped (but thankfully not a mod developer quitting) I do kind of get this feeling...
though the past 2 weeks or so some really bad information has come to light about the minecraft community I can happily say there's also the good side of the community showing up with other mod developers willing to continue another mod developer's work
there's been an update to AOBD, which might be interesting for the Mekanism lovers...
Mark719, the developer of Magical Crops, asked this question
which people seemed to like, so he replied with
and ofcourse Eyamaz also came by to say hello
there also seems to be a new Thaumcraft addon. this one looks like it adds some nostalgic items from previous Thaumcraft versions into Thaumcraft 4
you can find the mod here http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/2343194-164-thaumic-history-thaumcraft-addon-10/
on reddit Vazkii and RWTema took a few sneak peaks of what seems to be a new block for Thaumcraft
it looks like it's an automated way of doing crucible crafting
