What's new in modded minecraft today?

So apparently there are absolutely no mods which add simply things like enabling color codes and formatting in chat, lets you customize and add color to the prefix, name, suffix and chat breaker, or even welcome messages for new players!
So I spent a few minutes and created this for my server, thought someone else might find it useful as well:

Servertweaks :
It's a server side mod for 1.7.10 & 1.8 which enables color codes in chat (you can even customize which symbol to use), customized prefix, suffix and chat breaker, and you can even color all of these including the user name.
It also displays a customizable message to everyone on the server when a new player joins. (It checks the player.dat files, so it will work on any existing servers/worlds).

Every feature can be individually disabled.

How come nobody is talking about http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/232159-immersive-integration...

There's a mention or two in this thread, even a change log. But no buzz or hype at all elsewhere.

IE style AE2 data cables!? Yes plz.

Then again it's early days, but my peliminary 30 min creative testing yielded stable results. Haven't tested more intricate interactions with busses and interfaces though.
Also don't know how painful one of those vanishing cable bugs will be to a system that uses them extensively.

I'm getting back into modding, and the first piece of evidence of that is:
New Santa's Toys version 0.5

  • NEW: Spiced Sand
  • NEW: Spanish translation
  • FIX: Heavy Light recipe uses OreDict entry ingotIron instead of hardcoded Minecraft Iron Ingot.
  • FIX: Nether Blaster recipe no longer tries to register itself if the Ender Blaster is disabled. This could have potentially cause a crash.
  • FIX: Removed unused Sapling Blaster stuff until it's actually functional.

This is a port to 1.7.10 of Tinkers' Steelworks by Toops. (you should go read his mod description, I didn't want to steal it and it's awesome)

No but really, go read it.

You're still here aren't you?! Alright!

The Very Boring Mod Description Of DoomTM
Liquefying things
This mod is an expansion to Tinkers' Construct based around steel production.

It provides a new structure called the High Oven; Guess what it does: it smelts things! (well melts really). A bit like the Smeltery with one or two differences. For one it uses an internal temperature to melt items instead of direct fuel (is this technical enough yet ?). You can use charcoal, alumentum or coal coke to make the internal temperature rise.

Also, the high oven won't allow alloys to form. In fact it won't even melt your ores if there already is a different liquid in the internal tank.

But man, I gotta smelt my ores ya know :(
Don't worry, we've got exactly what you're looking for ! Introducing The Deep Tank: a new multiblock structure that will allow you to store multiple kinds of liquids in one tank ! (tank glass sold separately). You can use any glass type you may wish and there is no size limit (as long as it's a cuboid). Don't trust these Fancy Fluid Storage guys, our tanks are the backbone of the minecraft industry! (don't sue me your tanks are cool too)

Why is your mod called Tinkers' Steelworks ?
Oh yeah, you can make steel; here's a tuto:

Just put some sweet iron to the left, then gunpowder, redstone and sand in the oxido-something slots and you're good to go!

If this all sounds too complicated, don't worry: The guy I stole this from left some kind of manual, everything you need is probably somewhere in there.

Mod Support
  • Minetweaker (Documentation)
  • Botania's Exoflame: it speeds up the temperature rise
  • Tinkers' Construct: I mean, obviously.
  • Chisel: limestone and scorched bricks
  • Waila
  • Not Enough Items nope, but soonTM
You're 150% allowed to use this mod in your modpack. And anything else that the CC-By-3.0 license allows (though if you're going to modify it, get in touch to see if we can include your modification in this fork).

So... Botania,
  • Addded a Brew of Absolution that clears all potion effects.
  • Addded some tiny potato variants :3
  • Added "update notification message" to the version checker config option's description for noobs who just CTRL-F.
  • Added the ability to add Emeralds to the Cocoon of Caprice to influence the outcome towards something different.
  • Added the ability to take notes in the lexica botania.
  • Added the Manastorm Charge, a new fun explosive thing that also happens to have another use...
  • Change the Cacophonium texture to not be horrible, thanks wiiv :D
  • Changed the color of the Brew of Vanity's Emptiness to be different from the new Brew of Absolution.
  • Disabled the number keys in the Floral Pouch to fix a dupe.
  • Fixed a visual bug with the Petal Apothecary when a seed is thrown in the middle of two or more Petal Apothecaries that have a complete recipe. I swear, how do people find these things?
  • Fixed ender brick slabs breaking in one hit.
  • Fixed flowers being able to pull mana from and put mana into mana pools or spreaders that no longer exist.
  • Fixed the Agricarnation Petite having the wrong range.
  • Fixed the tiny potato's jump animation being somewhat jaggy.
  • Fixed there being a "botania.sign-1" slot in the Eye of the Flugel under some occasions.
  • If a tiny potato is named, the name will only show up when you're looking at it.
  • If you lose your Lexica Botania in Garden of Glass you can now exchange a Sapling for it by right clicking with it on the Mana Flame.
  • The Endoflame now caps how much each fuel is worth to the value of a Coal Block. It can still accept larger fuels, but they are capped to a Coal Block. Now, before you start raging and raising your pitchforks around at this, please think about what botania tries to do, and how much super condensed fuels like Aeternalis Fuel Blocks negate that. Ok, you chill now?
  • The Influence lens can now move mana bursts. Have fun with this one :3
  • Unclipped secret pretty dev things.
  • [API] Added TinyPotatoRenderEvent, because Vexatos would not stop annoying me.
  • [API] Changed how isValidBinding() checks for SubTileGenerating/SubTileFunctional.
  • [API] SubTileGenerating and SubTileFunctional instances now check isValidBinding() before interacting with the bound collector or pool.
  • [API] Increased version number to 58.
and Botania,
Fixed a crash when opening the Lexicon Index.
and Botania updated today.

new day, new update, and today it's @Lothrazar with Overpowered Inventory
Lothrazar said:
- Expands your inventory space to 15 rows by 25 columns = 375 total slots.

- Also includes a 3x3 crafting grid instead of 2x2. So, this is kind of a sequel to my Inventory Crafting mod, but with tons more features added on top. (I will still be supporting both mods in individually. Also, special thanks to Funwayguy, I this was partly inspired/influenced by InfiniteInvo1.7.10)

- Adds four special slots to hold ender pearls, ender chest, clock, and compass.

-A keybinding is added to use the ender pearl from this slot (regardless of what is in your hotbar).

- Sneaking with a clock/compass in the slot will show them on the screen (same way as the navigation buff in my Power Apples mod)

- Small button in your inventory to open your ender chest inventory without placing one down (if its in the slot)

- You can store experience by filling Bottles o Enchanting by putting empty bottles in a special slot in the far right. The two buttons on the top right deposit your items into nearby chests automatically. This is not a 100% lossless conversion, since Bottles o Enchanting give randomly 3-11 exp. By default, it costs 10 exp to fill a bottle; change this in the config file.

- Arrow buttons cycle inventory left and right, or push them all to one corner. When a chest or other container is open, you only see the first row and a bit squished in just like the normal combined inventory.

- Two special buttons in the top right will deposit your items into all nearby chests all at once with a single click. 'Merge' will only add to existing item stacks (for example, a chest with one cobblestone and nothing else will get that cobble filled up with 63 more, empty slots in the chest are ignored and other items are ignored). Deposit all will dump everything possible (after trying to merge first). By default this only uses chests up to 12 blocks away; this can be tweaked in the config file. It does use both trapped and regular chests, but no other containers.

- When opening any other vanilla container, the top right has two buttons, "I" to go to your inventory, and "X" to close.

- The text 'Crafting' is removed

- Added a config file to remove your character model from the inventory (but this still has the black space there, kind of silly I know)

- By default, ender pearls have been buffed to stack to 64; you can revert this in the config file to send it back to 16.

- Tested in SSP, SMP, with and without keepInventory gamerule. Even so, please BACK UP your worlds before installing (goes for every mod, not just this one).

- Using this while in CREATIVE mode will have some weird issues, the armor slots and lots of other stuff gets messed around, it is intended for SURVIVAL.

Config file looks like this

# Configuration file

general {
# Range of the filter button to reach nearby chests [range: 1 ~ 32, default: 12]

# Stack to 64 instead of 16 [default: true]

# The exp cost of filling a single bottle. Remember, the Bottle 'o Enchanting gives 3-11 experience when used, so it is never an exact two-way conversion. [range: 1 ~ 11, default: 10]

# Show or hide the animated character text in the inventory [default: true]

Please let me know if you have any ideas for additions to the mod, or if anything crashes or goes wrong.

and @kroeser with Structured Crafting
kroeser said:
This mod adds just one new block to the game, the Structured Crafter. It allows you to craft stuff in your world by determining the structure around this Structured Crafter. This block will try to craft every second on the condition that it has an active redstone signal.

This first image below shows an example on how to craft a regular crafting table. The nine blocks at the base (opposite direction of the arrow) will be checked if it matches a crafting recipe. In this case it matches the recipe of a crafting table, so at the other side of the block, a crafting table will be created and the input blocks will be consumed.

The recipe detection is flexible enough to handle various positions and rotations for input blocks as can be seen below.

Instead of input blocks, you can also use input inventories, like for example chests.

These can be used in combination with input blocks as well.

When a recipe has multiple output items (like 1 log to four planks), it will try to place the first block and drop the others on top of it.

If the item can not be placed, all items will just be dropped in the world.

Inventories can be used in the output as well, this is useful for these cases when there are multiple output items, so we can capture them all in a chest.

You can create endlessly complex crafting systems with this, like the one that can be seen below.

I have just released a new version of Equivalent Energistics (V0.3)

  • Fixed crafting stalling on server restart
  • EMC Crystals are now filtered from an players learned transmutations. This solves a glitch that caused Dense Crystals to be uncraftable by AE.
  • Fixed an issue where the Client did not get updated with server state causing a crash.
  • Parallel crafting now works properly
  • EMC Assemblers now display the item they are crafting.
  • Condenser power usage has been changed to be based on the crystals output rather than the item being condensed. This should prevent the case where a network without enough power appears to "eat" high EMC value items that are pumped into the Condenser.
  • Added support for Waila
  • Some defaults in the config have been changed. You may want to delete your config and allow it to be recreated.

new day, new update, and today it's @Zorn_Taov with Bed Craft and Beyond
Zorn_Taov said:
Add over 3000 different combinations of beds to your world, along with rugs that connect up the sides of other blocks!

Colored Beds:

Colored Beds can be made using the template above, where there are two matching colored of any kind Wool blocks for the blanket, a third of any color Wool block for the pillow and sheets, and three of the same kind of planks to make that pattern of bed.

There are also Colored Chest Beds, that have an inventory that can be accessed using a Key. These beds have a 9 slot inventory for both block spaces, to represent the small drawer space under the bed.

It is also possible to Right Click the top or bottom parts of both Colored Beds and Colored Chest Beds to change the what color they are. The top part changes the pillows and sheets, and the bottom part changes the blankets.

There is also a Stone Slab Bed for further decoration.

Rugs are like Vanilla carpets, in which they are a block that are 1/16th the height of a Wool block. The main difference being that Rugs will flow over the sides of blocks to connect to Rugs on the next block down, as well as flow over Slabs and Stair blocks in any possible orientation for either block. Please note their bounding box is hovering in the block space above when they are placed on top of half slabs and stairs, and they will connect to other Rugs regardless of color.

You can also change the color of rugs individually or with multiples with any oredict'd dye.

Mod Compatibility:
Colored Beds and Vanilla Beds:
Because Colored Beds use the same recipe pattern as Vanilla beds, this mod overwrites the vanilla Recipe for beds. For use of the Vanilla bed, there is a new recipe where you use any color combination of Colored Bed in a crafting grid to make a vanilla Bed, as shown below.

Rugs and Modded Stairs/Slabs:
As long as the Stairs and Slab blocks created by other mods extend the vanilla classes for Stairs and Slabs, Rugs will continue to function as intended.

Known Issues:

As shown above, there is a shadow that appears on a single face of the panels for the carpet blocks. As I am attempting to use the vanilla way of rendering parts of a block in different sizes (like the stairs blocks do) This shadowed corner appears when the game is rendered using Smooth lighting. So far I have no clue how to solve this issue without rewriting the rendering code for vanilla blocks. If anyone has any input or suggestions, please make an issue or PR on the GitHub.

  • Fixed the liquipack workbench not working, I basically accidentally removed the GUI when doing some bugfixes last version.
  • Reworked the liquipack pipe interface GUI. This should fix most of the crashes and weird issues people were having with it.

  • A few more bugfixes.

new day, new update, and today it's @TwentyOneZ with Guardian Chests
TwentyOneZ said:

Basically, this mod will spawn a chest at you death location and keep all your items in there. It was based on NightKosh's GraveStone mod, Dr.Cyano's Lootable Bodies mod and Tyler15555's Death Chest mod.

There are some worthwhile features that differs from those mods:

1) An Awakened Guardian Chest must be in your main inventory when you die, so it will keep your inventory saved (this can be disabled in config file so you don't need to craft it).

2) You can craft a Bound Guardian Chest too if you want it to spawn near your spawn location when you die. Really convenient, uh?

3) The chest is unbreakable, and will only be opened by the owner for a while after his death. After 5 minutes, anyone can open it (this period can be changed in config file).

4) You can make all enchanted items "soulbound" via config file (i.e: it will spawn in your inventory after death).

Compiled for Forge for Minecraft 1.7.10, using Java 8.

The following mods are meant to work with Guardian Chests:

Since this was based on NightKosh's GraveStone mod, Dr.Cyano's Lootable Bodies mod and Tyler15555's Death Chest mod, I want to thank the authors for making their source code open and available. Any of this would be possible without them, specially NightKosh for all the mod compatibility source code. Thank you!

  • Added the ability to transmute between all vanilla flowers with the alchemy catalyst.
  • Added the vanilla Coarse Dirt to the botania creative tab, because ya know, it's craftable with botania and stuff.
  • Changed the Blaze Lamp's burn time to be 10x that of a blaze rod rather than 9x. Also made that value half if Garden of Glass is enabled.
  • Changed the Cocoon of Caprice's texture to be 64x32 rather than 48x32, that apparently was making it not display properly in some setups.
  • Changed the endoflame cap to be that of a Block of Coal Coke. That should encompass all non ridiculous fuels.
  • Fixed buried petals displayed an unlocalized name on waila or other name viewing things of the sort.
  • Fixed the Cocoon of Caprice not saving its data properly. (Titanium237458)
  • The Black Hole Talisman no longer uses up items in creative.
  • The Black Hole Talisman now tells you what block is in it in the item's name, it also shows how many are remaining when you place a block.
  • The Ghast Tear to Ender Pearl recipe is now a 1:1 ratio conversion.
  • The Hopperhock now ignores damage on items that stack up to 1 and can be damaged, it'll also ignore the mana value on anything that can store mana.

RFTools 3.20 got released! Take a special note of the first part of the changelog. You need McJtyLib for RFTools now!

  • Changed the Liquid Monitor so it uses a different front texture when off.
  • Implemented a new pyramids feature dimlet.
  • Added two new effect dimlets: strong mobs and brutal mobs. With brutal mobs all mobs are by default 5 times stronger. With strong mobs all mobs are by default 2 times stronger. These dimlets reduce power consumption slightly.
  • Fixed a tooltip for the 'Add' button in the shield projector GUI
  • The dialing device now more clearly shows the distinction between the receiver and the dimension name by adding a tooltip. In addition the dimension name will now always be the correct RFTools dimension name. Also moved the coordinate to the tooltip to make room for longer names.
  • Fixed the peaceful module for the environmental controller so that it doesn't accidently remove the spawning restrictions. It didn't always prevent mob spawning. Also made the peaceful module even more robust by double checking that the environmental controller really is no longer there and active.

Also the Patreon dimlets are coming along nicely. That's why I'd like to remind people that you can support me at https://www.patreon.com/McJty It is the only way to get your own personalized dimlet in RFTools. Who wouldn't want that? :)

Brainslug83 updated Biospheres to 1.7.10. I don't know how many of you used it back in the day, but here it is none the less<3
Hey guys, this is my first mod project.

It's a port/update of Risugami's original Biosphere Mod for Minecraft 1.6.x. I fixed a lot of random stuff in here, and made a lot of random updates/restructures as well and even added a few things.

DOWNLOAD LINKS (Updated April 16, 2015):

NewBiospheresMod-1.7.x-0.8.jar (STABLE)
NewBiospheresMod-1.7.x-0.85.jar (!!BETA!! !!BUGGY!!)

(PLEASE NOTE: the beta version has introduced some new issues and they're pretty bad -- I hope to have them fixed soon -- but in the meanwhile, upgrading should only be for the most adventurous. This version will eat your dog and burn your house down.)

(Requires Minecraft 1.7.x with the latest appropriate version of Forge Installed, just put this in your "Mods" folder.
Tested with MC 1.7.2 / Forge 1147, and MC 1.7.10 / Forge 1291 -- with JRE 7u76 for Windows, 64-bit.)

The source is available on github (with full dev. environment setup instructions) at:https://github.com/BrainSlugs83/NewBiospheresMod
You'll find the release archives under the "Releases" folder.

I'm trying to transition this mod to the github page, so we can track issues, etc. (so I don't lose track of them). If something needs discussion, we can do that here, but otherwise, let's try to migrate the feature requests and bugs to the github pageissue tracker.

Ore Orb Changes:

This is probably the most obvious change: the ore orbs are covered in glass, they have a lot more ore in them than before, and they're placed randomly now too. And while it's still pretty damn hazardous to get to/from them, it's also about one million percent more feasible with the new janky, randomly half-missing stairways. Another hazard that's been added for ****s and giggles is the random blocks of lava you'll find in them.

(Note: the density of the ore, and the presence of the stairways are configurable.)

Config File Changes:

This is probably the next biggest win: I've updated the configuration / properties to the mod to be editable from within Minecraft (under the mods menu), a lot of the settings are different than before. Of important note: changes to the settings only affect NEW WORLDS that you create (yes you can click an existing world and select "re-create", a restart is not required). -- If you're having trouble understanding something, hover over the option and wait for the hover text to pop-up, it should explain how to use each property.

Other Changes:
Off the top of my head:

  • It should be a bit faster, it skips a ton of work by skipping chunks that would just all be filled with the outside block (it does an arrays.fill and moves on), and it now it caches the sphere data for each grid segment so that each chunk doesn't have to regenerate the same sphere over and over.
  • Lakes / Lava Pools now have uneven bottoms (when noise is turned on) rather than just being a half sphere that was way too deep, it's shaped a lot more naturally now.
  • It's now multi-core friendly -- the original code kept a lot of state in the provider objects, so if you called them method twice from different threads with two different chunks... well, you weren't going to get good results. -- This is fixed now, so you can turn on those multi-core chunk loading settings in OptiFine with this Mod now. :)
Features Added (Week of Oct. 18, 2014) [v0.8]:
Remember, when you change the configuration options, they only apply to new Worlds. Unfortunately, for the new options, it will apply to your existing World, but only the first time you open it. After that the existing world will remember that option forever (this is to prevent you from derping up your existing worlds). To make a world forget the existing options go into the data directory and delete the "newbiospheresmod.dat" file.

  • Added support for Minecraft 1.7.2.
  • Orb's are now fully configurable (including glass outside block, ore chances, etc.)
  • Orb Stairways are now fully configurable.
  • Biome weights are now configurable.
  • I've split the Configuration settings into Multiple Pages/Groups.
  • The spawning logic has been improved.
Features Added (Week of April 10th, 2015) [v0.85]:

  • Domes are now configurable (like Ore Orbs were previously), there are up to four types of domes with four types of blocks in each dome (each with individual weights).
  • The spawning logic has been improved some more. You should no longer spawn in the void, or on top of a dome.
  • Light is able to pass through the dome blocks (like if you make the dome block "TNT", it should not be pitch black inside -- you can't see through the blocks, but it's light inside, just like "TNT" was glass).
Planned Features (Backlog):
Issues and features are now being tracked on The GitHub Issue Tracker for the project. Please feel free to log your bugs or feature requests there (make sure to search that there's not a duplicate).

If you want to discuss an issue before logging it or need some help, feel free to post here!

Questions, Comments, Suggestions, Feedback, etc. are all very welcome. If you experience any issues or ****ed up terrain, etc. please post the seed, coordinates (and any custom configuration settings), and I'll take a look.

Let me know what y'all think!

Epilogue (for now):
I took a break from developing this morning and decided to play test it while I listen to an audio book -- here are some screenshots:

EDIT: After playing with it for a bit, I can say that it doesn't like other modded world gen very much. It tends to break it. However, ores seem to work fine
