That's ridiculous. Is XComp going to veto on whether he likes my modpack idea? Do all modpacks containing Mystcraft have to conform to his idea if what nodpacks should be? Does he have time for that? An "all the things" pack is the kind that is most in need of Mystcraft. I disagree with his premise. I find that packs like Magic Farm 2 are great fun for a while, but I am yearning for all the things.

He has been for quite some time. People just asked him to explain what he was looking for in a pack that he would give permission to. He gives out a lot of permissions. He is just asking that people be mildly creative in modpack creation.

Its also worth noting when 1.7 comes out there will be no reason for FTB etc to release massive "all the things " packs. We can instead focus on stable themed packs. The current themed packs tend to be much more stable than Monster or DW20.

Forgive my ignorance, but why is that so? I'm asking out of curiosity, not because I disagree.

One big thing that will improve FTB is "DIY" modpacks where we can handle them by ourself.

A large part of the reason for us still doing those packs are some people really don't want to do ID resolution.

Aside from DW20 the trend in the MC stream and youtube community is towards smaller more themed "game" packs as opposed to massive modpacks. Its also what we are seeing people request a lot. A majority of players like packs that all the mods work together smoothly and packs that feel like a new game. Once ID conflicts are no longer an issue there will be no need for us to ship massive packs. People can easily take all the mods and throw them together if they want packs with all the mods.

Instead Eyamaz and I can focus on what we do best. Themed gamepacks. RPG, Questing, Hardcore, Factory, etc. Packs where all the mods work together and play nicely, and packs where the game feels new.

Modpack - collection of mods with non conflicting ID's and minor changes for balance

Gamepack - a selective group of mods with sometimes massive config and recipe changes that feels like a new game played inside minecraft.

Eyamaz and I both love creating unique and different packs. We find creating the massive "all the things" packs to be uninspiring and a tech support nightmare.

There will probably always be one "all the things" pack on the launcher for the map. But focus is shifting away from that and more towards creating a new and fun experience.

To center the pack around Rotarycraft, I would want to do a "Realism" style pack to keep with @Reika theme of the mod. That's very slim pickings in mods. I don't think I could the way I would want to atm.

I think a pack like the new version of Voltz (that includes Rotarycraft) would be nice. Just something a bit bigger and a wider variety of mods (completely UE is a bit samey).

One thing I really want is an RPG pack. I'd probably would just go back and play with the packs on the Void's Wrath Launcher, but the packs aren't as well assembled.

What about the matter of updating the mods for the more computer-illiterate people such as myself? It's one thing to try mess around with stuff you barely understand once, it's another to do it regularly.

I have lately joined the Void's Wrath pack development team (aka I take over Cody's job), so the packs are surely gaining quality under my hood. I hope so, at least. Fellowship should be updated soon-ish, and said update will be pretty awesome. More balancing, removal of mods and the addition of cool mods (Witchery, all of ProfMobius mods, finally enabled BetterDungeons, etc.). I hope I will be able to please you :).

This is not true. FTB Team has permissions to some mods that custom public packs can't get. I cannot make a public 1.6.4 "Ultimate" pack because I cannot get permissions to a handful of mods. Heck, no public not-made-by-FTB-team pack can have REI's in it. We need YOU to make these All-the-things packs because YOU have permissions we cannot get. It is also a PITA from what I can tell to compile the permissions. Do I really need a screenshot of every mod's "Open Use Policy" page? I have created the thread http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/the-ultimate-monster-pack.39369 because if I'm going to be stuck telling people to "go get these mods and add them yourself", I may as well start off with an existing pack.

Thanks,
IMarv

Jaded means, its not hard for users to just drop all the mods in.
There is no need.

I am a derp. Project Red update was already reported.
[DOUBLEPOST=1394044937][/DOUBLEPOST]Algorithm is almost ready to give us AE2.

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...uantum-mechanics/page__st__2880#entry29485597

Its possible that "the crafting bug" is more or less a collection of bugs, but like i said, Its not something that I had any luck in tracking down.

I appreciate everyone trying to put some effort into "ID"ing the issue(s), but its kinda too late at this point AE2 is right around the corner, and working on a totally different code base to fix a bug that

This thread should probably be stickied by now, just sayin'.

I was just thinking that.

That makes me kind of excited. Any chance of a complete mod list or the return of some of the mods for Voids Wrath? Or more magic?

Those modpacks are a really nice change of pace from the usual tech packs.

The latest beta builds of MFR fix a dupe bug with the Auto Brewer, should fix it only partly chopping tree's, and it appears Skyboy is working on his own E-Net.

I thought one of the reasons for the FTB launcher is so you could tell a user to "go get X modpack" and you're ready to go. Custom packs cannot get Portal Gun Mod, REI's Mini Map, Twilight Forest, and have a hard time getting Mystcraft. I think I have a couple others on my list but I can't remember what they were. I think Thaumcraft was on the list at the time, but I think it has gotten easier. My point is the Mod Pack Developers for FTB have a slightly larger pallette of mods to pick from than random joe's public packs. Either that, or I completely misunderstood something about some of these permissions pages.

Not only that, but configs are more than just fixing IDs... You have to adjust ore spawning for one. And not to mention configs that change how mods interact with each other. Having to go through the configs and editing them and then distribute them to everyone who plays on your server while making sure they even place them in the right spot is a pita. That is what a number of people love FTB for. They do the work.

Ontop of all of that, a lot of people learned about new mods through packs like Monster. Not everyone wants to go scouring through MCF or NEM looking for some new quality mods to play with, but with FTB they can do that while still keeping the familiar mods they know and love.
