New Mod by dmillerw: Chests+ V2

Its basically just coloured chests and some extra chest textures (like glass texture)

According to the comments inventory upgrades are planned

pretty nice... would be awesome if you could get more control with chests... like maybe some sort of carpenter's chest, where you can give the chest a texture of a block, or perhaps a vacuum chest, like the openblocks vacuum but with a bigger inventory. or perhaps a chest with silk touch on it, making you able to pick it up with it's content remaining... I know other mods already do these kind of things, but this mod seems more of a mod you'd install when you want to play modded minecraft but as close to vanilla as possible

thaumic...reliquary? Flaxbeard just posted yesterday, it looks like. link

that's actually a pretty damn smart idea, I like :D

Apologies to those who downloaded 0.11.2 and had items disappear from conduits.

Next time I say 'I am too tired to do this really', I will listen to myself. Honest. ;)

  • Documentation! Not yet finished.
  • The pressurizer can no longer be used to generate power, and has been renamed from "Pressure Generator"
  • Pressurizer entity-blowing can be disabled with a RS signal
  • Lacerators on servos can now hold FOUR items. Opulent luxury!
  • Robotic arm:
  • now less likely to crash servers
  • now less likely to use certain items multiple times at once
  • if the inventory is empty, or it doesn't have an inventory, it'll click w/ nothing
  • Also other bug fixes

dear god... how the hell do they want to make a movie-length video out of Minecraft?
there better be some mods in that movie otherwise it'll get boring reaaaaaaaaally fast...

We watch videos on mc all the time.. sometimes for hrs.. Now add modded MC movie.. I will sit for a day or something... breaks maybe for food, sex and, sleep..

I think I must be the only one who thought the lewis & simon MC videos were way better before they turned into a storyline.

You might be right, but that was one of the most enjoyable things about their Tekkit series. The few months when it was running in parallel with SOI were the best. I wish they'd play a decent modpack again, legitimately or even vanilla.

Not sure if i should post this on mod news, but we got some news from XComp:
http://binarymage.com/2014/01/26/on-minecraft-modpacks-now/

Does anyone know if this mean that packs like monster will not be allowed to be shipped with Mystcraft anymore?
I'm sure he will make an exception for feed the beast. And I am also sure he won't disallow current packs with his mod. This of course unless he had somewhere in his license saying that he has the right to take back permission at any time. Since permission is a poor topic on these forums I advise that we don't continue this discussion further.

Seems like a very odd decision to me. Effectively saying that his mod can no longer be used in anything but niche products?
Also yeah I could probably pile all the mods of Monster onto a vanilla MC installation and make it run, but all the config work and bug fixing would be a nightmare for me and utterly wasted time on just one person. And I would never reach the level of quality like what I get in one of the FTB packs. That is why I prefer these packs, because a team of competent people are doing all the config and bugfixing and an much bigger group(many of the users) then supply bug reports which grants a much better experience for everyone.

Sorry for bringing a delicate topic up, will try to remember to not post any further news about permissions.

sidestepping the permissions issue for obvious reasons, i think there's an interesting conversation here for another thread.

i share XComp's vision for the future of modpacks as we know them.

also:

i think he's getting at the point that anybody with a half decent grasp of computers and minecraft can put together a modpack that loads and plays, but it takes a lot more to craft an experience like the modpack he cites in his post.

No, xcomp is completly correct in this. Modpacks like Monster will be simplistic to do once 1.7 rolls up, and something we are going to move away from. As far as @Jadedcat and I are concerned, we want to build more packs with the depth of Magic Farm and Blood N Bones, though maybe not with the difficulty.
Originally, Horizons was going to receive the type of recipe rewrite and balancing I've done to BnB, but I left that aside because it can't really be done when we advertise all the packs as completely modifiable. This will probably not be the case moving forward.
I would rather spend the time putting together a pack that people say, "wow, this feels like a completely new experience!" Something with depth. Something that steps up the game.

The problem is that packs like BnB and Magic Farm are mostly for single player and don't work so well on servers, since we have many people with different styles and not all will like and want to play on what those specialized packs can offer.
