The crystals. If you're on a 1.4.7 pack, just make yourself a quick x-ray system (TNT/glowstone through the head) and you'll see why. There's also how they damage everything they touch, so tough luck if you mined a diamond that just happened to be right above one of them!
At least it looks like both those things will be fixed in the 1.6 release.

You could just as easily have lost it to lava, but it's not exactly hard to stand close enough to pick it up before they get destroyed.
As far as I'm concerned losing materials while mining is not a prolific problem because it can be easily avoided so xycraft has added no new dangers.

As for the amount of materials found in world gen, i do think Xycraft has gone overboard, I've only ever had a shortage of anything from xycraft so i think it would add value to the mod to add some rarity.

But to address community demands for quality etc. you should read up on Xycraft because the only reason its out right now is because the community demanded it was released and the developer trying to convince people it wasn't ready not the other way around.

In my opinion Xycraft is not in anyway a bad mod, it just isn't finished yet.
So should it be in the mod packs yet?, i don't know but i certainly enjoy playing with it and would add it personally myself.

I NEVER lost anything to Xycraft quartz. I'm confused as to how people managed to do so.

They see the quartz and they think, "I hate it when you destroy my drops." Then they see the ore blocks right next to the quartz and think, "omg get in my bags." Then they watch the drops fall on the quartz and disappear and because this is the internet and we can't reach through our monitors and flick people on the forehead, they keep making the same mistake over and over again, blaming Xycraft every time.

That having been said, I disliked Xycraft when it was first added to FTB packs because it was another one of those "doesn't actually do anything useful yet" alpha mods that got thrown in because the dev was on ForgeCraft. As I see it, mod packs are for the players, not a conduit to sneak in mods for semi-voluntary alpha/beta testing as a favor to the ForgeCraft pals. I think it's moving in a good direction but it's still showing signs of amateurish design decisions.

Same here. I heard a lot of people being very excited about Xycraft coming, and then when it did, it didn't do anything except fill the world with useless ore furnished with some of the worst texture work I've ever seen. Then I heard some people say that it's mostly in for the decorative blocks, in response to which my only thought was '... but it looks horrible'. I gather it's changed some since then, but I honestly haven't bothered checking if it actually does something now.

XyCraft was one of my favourite mods, I loved the tanks and stuff, but I dunno, it was one of those mods that had function and you used that, but it was no MFR or Tinker's Construct or Natura or TE.

Am I the only one who habitually mines out everything around a diamond ore before mining the ore itself anyway? I'm so used to finding diamonds right next to lava that I always dig out the area around the block to be certain my diamond isn't going to be burned up by lava even if I don't hear lava nearby it, so I never had issues with quartz destroying my diamonds. As for the OP, I like Xycraft well enough, an accumulator might be more efficient but a massive neon tank full of infinite water appeals to me, I love massive structures, you should see how big I tend to build my smelteries, a 5X5 base and at least 10 blocks high to fit an entire stack in it at a time. Plus the xychorium were great sources of essence for my thaumic needs. My only real complaint about it was that the soil blocks didn't work with the crop sticks from IC2.

No you're not, I'm so paranoid about losing diamonds, especially early in the game, that I mine everything around it several layers deep, and then mine the ore.
Also, smelteries can be made with a 5x5 base?! How did I not know this :(

3X3 interior, 5X5 exterior, that way each layer can contain up to 9 objects to smelt.

I think I dislike everything about XyCraft, nothing I've seen so far in this mod that has amounted to anything substantial. I don't think the blocks are particularly beautiful, they look okay, not worth my time or energy to smelt and craft. The fabricator just isn't my style, I tend to like things to require more steps to accomplish.

I actually really like the look of the blocks. I'd build my houses out of Xychoridite Bricks, except... there's too many damned colors! The xychorium is so spread out among so many colors that you'll never get enough of the color you want unless you run a damn quarry. It was feasible back when you could use the Forge Lexicon to rotate the crystals between colors, but now you're just supposed to make an ugly multicolor seizure building if you want to build with Xychoridite. :/

QUARTZ BREAKS ITEMS?

New griefing method achieved. Quartz the entire floor of someone's base, break all pipes, muahahahhaha.

But seriously, why >_>.

Well, I am at the point of recycling most of it. It's really not needed for anything. I'll make a couple thousand engineering bricks of all colours then call it a day.

Eh, Xycraft was one of my favorite mods back in my first world. As soon as I as the video Milbee did way back when, I was hooked.

A tiny golem wheat farm hooked up to a fabricator, giant and cheap tanks of oil and fuel, coolio lights, crystal trash disposal...

I don't miss it, but It would be nice to have it back.

The whole mod is quite nice. But why did he listen to that stupid 'quarz deletes items' suggestion? That is a BIG minus on my list. I might accept this ridiculous behaviour, once he adds in a frikkin config option for the amount or spawn rate. Until then, those quarz shards are srsly annoying and nothing more. Worldgen is fine imho, I am used to colorful caves (Underground Biomes / BoP / Thaumcraft / Dartcraft) anyways. ;)

1. Lag
2. Ugly
3. Who doesnt have infinite iron anyway?
4. Bad support
5. Doesnt follow through
6. Not the best coding
7. Shit generation

It could be great but they left it at meh. Their tanks are about all they got, and they are still on crack sometimes

Are you the head of the Xycraft fan club? That's a lot of love :p

I liked Xycraft and I'd love to get it back into my game. The decorative blocks, if not overdone, could really add to a build, and I miss it's inverted lights.
