Now if you had a turbine designed to fall so that it could spin as wind flowed through it due to it falling, and it generated energy that could be transmitted wirelessly, THEN we'd be talking...

Nope, don't need wind, in fact air would be really bad for it.

Think in terms of one of those shaking flashlights. All it uses to generate power is a ferrous metal rod sliding inside a copper coil that transmits the electric charge that occurs from the magnetic field generated. A setup like that but the rod passing through portals in a perpetual state (like what is used in the games when you want to build up speed for a really long launch) with minimal friction would be an infinite electrical generator. Terribly inefficient but because there's an infinite supply of kinetic energy to begin with it's a moot point.

Now I'm just thinking of this

Mod devs: we need a toast-cat fall generator!

I discovered that Gregtech 1.7.10 is incredibly fun, and lets you make tools out of pretty much anything. Including nether stars, which is fun.
I discovered the One Ring in a GT 1.7 pack myself last night.(ElectroMagic tools I believe)

I haven't discovered what it does yet, so I'm storing it in a chest till I figure it out.

I discovered that I can make Endstone all by myself, don't need to go to the End.

Process
1. find some Endermen and kill 'em for their pearls
2. find or make some obsidian (by the multiple of 5)
3. put the enderpearls in the Tinker Construct's Smeltery
4. meanwhile, put the obsidian in the casts bassins
5. make the resonant ender flow on the obsidian
6. here, you have the enderstone

Tip : to make it useful, be lucky enough to have ender lilies. As I am a coward, I don't like to go outside at night where you have plenty of zombies on your back

You can also get endstone in the Fluid Transposer, think it uses slightly more resonant ender though.

This is just fantasy physics, but the portal should have to spend energy to give that extra potential energy to the transported item. I guess the portal gun transfer enough energy to the portal for it to stay open during all the stage. However that energy spent there should always be greater or equal to what you can produce by any device you could plot. At some point, unless some sort of energy is pumped into the portal, it would dissipate by itself a lot faster when you try to make an object free fall loop like that into it.

On the other hand, I guess one could send an object high and transport it on a lower level and then produce energy from that transfert.

We're talking with completely unconventional physics here - who's to say they need energy to stay open, or to transport something? Though unstable, I don't believe wormholes, which are basically what we're working with here, need energy to transport things do they? THey don't actually transport something in that way, but in fact they are a bending in time and space.

They need insane amounts of energy to stay open...
