Not sure I'd label this is "cool", but definitely interesting:

The "endless ores" blocks in Astral Sorcery are NOT endless.

Tough to say...I was too busy laughing and trying to show my daughter the blockbreaker setup I had to pay attention...I'd say i sold 3 minutes of blockbreak LOL

And here I was expecting something like 'I ran an automated miner for three RL weeks straight, and broke one.' :D

...I didn't know Endoflames couldn't burn Charcoal blocks >:-(

(DirePack 1.12.2)

If you look at the charcoal block, it's not just a block of charcoal, it's been designated as a Chisel block, so it won't burn. Won't work in a furnace either.

So for years (as I have been playing modded MC for YEARS now), I've always been a bit peeved that flying (creative mode) is so bloody slow.
Absolute pain in the chuds, especially when testing out worldgen stuff. Doubly so for this era of modded MC since I don't know what items to use for fast flight.

Today I accidentally double tapped jump while sprinting, and suddenly I was flying about at 3x speed.

Yeah that's a fun discovery, although I think it tends to "wear off" over time under some circumstances (iirc).

It really is one of the dumbest things ever. Creative flight should be the fastest flight possible... but it isn't, and it's not even close. Maybe with the double-tap trick, it might be comparable, but I never remember to double-tap during flight either. :)

When I play a new world, I usually use creative flight to inspect it and see if it's an enjoyable world or not (for example, if the spawn area is a small island surrounded by a huge ocean, I'm gonna re-roll my world and try again). However, what I've learned is that it's much faster if I first grab the IC2 Nano Suit with the Gravitation Suite chestplate... and then also grab a Mantle Of The Raven from Twilight Forest mod... this combination allows me to fly around at about twice the speed of creative flight!

Spectator mode sprint flight is the fastest vanilla flight.

As for modded options, there are some speed stacking shenannigans you can get up to, but the best would probably be putting optifine onto the "fixed FoV", grabbing a flight method that is affected by the speed potion effect, and using
Code:
/effect @p 1 600 127 true
that 600 can be any whole number between 0 and 1,000,001 exclusive and with no commas or periods.

I'm kind of OK with creative flight not being the fastest. I've been thinking about this a lot on my pack. I've been paying close attention to my travel progression, and I like having something like an Angel Ring or Wings of the Bats in the upper mid-game for building purposes only. I can get around faster with a Ring of the Flying Squid and an Elytra-attached Dark Steel chestplate. Later on, I can potentially get equipment that gives you faster creative flight, too.

Starlight Transmutation from Astral Sorcery can turn sandstone into end stone. Which means no trip to the End, or having to save up ender pearls for melting, to make it!

Now if only I could actually make electric diamonds in a Conductor Mast (thanks, Calculator), I'd be sorted for end diamonds.
